The Medicine Woman trilogy has been one of the most successful series of new age CD's ever, with Medicine Woman 1 selling in excess of 450,000 and being awarded gold disc and platinum disc status. Medicine Woman II has also since been awarded gold disc status. The Medicine Woman series is well known to have been based on the ancient Mayan culture, their folk law and beliefs. Medicine Woman IV focuses on the ultimate Mayan mystery; the MAYAN CALANDER which stops on the 21st December 2012 with the prophecy that humanity will cross the threshold into a new era and will make some kind of very profound change after years of turmoil. The prophecy has attracted everyone from all walks of life and the scientific community to better understand what these ancient masters of time and astrology meant. What is more intriguing however is how many other prophecies, and ancient cultures all predict events on the same date of 2012. From crystal skulls, to polar shifts, to changes in our DNA. In a time when we are all looking for answers and all sense that change is needed, Medwyn asks the ultimate question: "What is the 2012 Mayan Prophecy all about?". With music that is a continuous flow of themes without pause from start to finish, and a CD booklet that will be full of reference and links to books and websites for further information, Medicine Woman IV takes a deep look at where we might be heading, and very soon.

Excellent Continuation of Series
The first in the Medicine Woman series Medicine Woman set a new style for Medwyn Goodall that is reflected in many of his albums. The next two in the series Medicine Woman II: The Gift Medicine Woman III were almost identical as he repeated the earlier themes and instruments such as the Mandolin and Panpipes. However, with this new album, he evolves the music to a new higher yet still personal level. Many of the same instruments are still here but the themes, while similar, have morphed into newer, more modern sounds showing his continued growth. A great addition to a wonderful set of albums.

We Have A Winner: Well Worth Listening To
Purchased my first Goodall CD about 1996. Like most musical artists, not every single song gets a top ten rating. This is also holds true for Medwyn's vast multitude of tunes.Having said that, this particular CD is a keeper and definitely ranks as outstanding where I come from ! Hence, the five stars.

Medicine Woman IV
I really enjoy Medicine Woman 3 and although I have been playing 1V since I received it, it still doesn't relax me as much as CD 3. I am a Massage Therapist and my choice of music is important and I connect better with 3. I would like to find more CD that fit my requirements. Thanks Jill

Not as good as the previous 2 medicine woman albums
I m a big fan of his music and have many albums. This one is good but not as good as the other two since he tends o weave in the same melody into many of the songs.

As good as the others if not the best yet
If you have the previous three in this set I cannot see how you could possibly be disappointed in this CD. If you have not heard any of the Medicine Woman CDs and you enjoy relaxing new age music then you really should give them a try as they are really at the top of the genre. What I like most about this set of four Medicine Woman recordings of which this is the latest at the time of reviewing it is that the composer has a theme but doesn't end up repeating the same ideas over and over in different variations (the way Mike Oldfield does sometimes for instance). Also, although the first Medicine Woman album is excellent each one is better than the one before, which is why I gave the review this title. On first hearing it is definitely as good as the others but as it grows on me it may prove to be the best. Actually it was a gift for my other half who was into the first two before we met. Fortunately I love them too. It is hard to describe the music. His main instrument for composition is the guitar apparently but, being a multi-instrumentalist this is never very obvious. The recordings are rich and spacey but never meander aimlessly. You never feel they go out of control into mindless twiddling like some new age music or smooth jazz sometimes does. There are themes, some of them quite simple, other more complex but always interesting and quite original compared to many others in the genre. The only thing I'm surprised about is that there aren't dozens of five star reviews already.

Greate to relax or meditate to.
I just simply love the instrumental tunes of this series of music so I have bought the whole set of 6 CDs, I also like Medwy Goodalls style of music and will be purchasing some of his other works.
