This book is an invaluable resource---and easy read---for anyone who wants to give hope and support to a child with dyslexia, or who seeks to better understand the challenges faced by a partner or colleague. The book celebrates what dyslexics CAN do really well, and provides many useful tips for navigating a world full of words. Although many of the people featured are not well known in the U.S. this won't stop you enjoying the book. In clear, simply told stories, a diverse range of people--a comedian, a dancer, a poet and Virgin's Sir Richard Branson for example--talk about the way they work best, how they learned to overcome challenges at school, and how their challenge can be used as a strength. The book is touching, inspiring and shaming--some of the treatment these people received from peers and teachers is truly shocking. Read it and learn how you can help the dyslexics in your life, and how they can help you. Am I alone in wishing there was a U.S. and an audio version of these powerful testimonies?

British Dyslexics
If you are looking for a book filled with British Creative Successful dyslexics then this is the one. My students did not know who these people were and therefore were not interested in hearing about these individuals.

Inspiring and heartening book
I've been enjoying dipping in and out of this extremely interesting book on well-known people with dyslexia. Each chapter is devoted to a different person and details how they survived their childhood difficulties and the challenges as well as the benefits and qualities that their dyslexia has brought to their lives. People such as Eddie Izzard, Lynda La Plante and Darcey Bussell, are given space here to tell their unique stories, and they really are inspiring and heartening. Anyone involved in education should read it, to educate themselves about what dyslexia really is, and how they could help support children and young adults to reach their potential. As the mother of two dyslexic children, our family have found this book very encouraging, and I would recommend it to everyone.

This is a wonderful, energising
This is a wonderful, energising, uplifting book, full of fabulous insights and stories.I didn't know Einstein, David Bailey, Zoe Wanamaker, Richard Rogers had dyslexia in common. It's fascinating to see how these people have refused to accept any limitations. And have used their gifts in such diverse ways. They all have such interesting things to say about the way they see the world. 'I remember sitting at the back of the class and not knowing what was going on. The blackboard was all a-jumble.' - Richard Branson. This is a terrific book for anyone who has a dyslexic child, friend or is dyslexic themselves. But more importantly, it's a great read for anyone who feels they see the world differently and thinks they are alone.

Valuable and refreshing contribution.
This is a very valuable contribution to an important debate. Dyslexia has been much misunderstood , and generations of kids bitterly let down. The resulting damage to self esteem can last a lifetime.I like the way the author has illustrated the issue with the life stories of well known personalities. This will bring the subject to the attention of a wider audience, and about time too, so well done and thank you . This is a celebration of dyslexia and dyslexics .

Great to hear others struggles and relate it to people ...
Great to hear others struggles and relate it to people in the spotlight. Openness of each story felt good and length of each story was just right for me, being a slow-ish reader...
