Perfect for our circa 1982 Mansfield Toilet
We am very lucky we saw a video on installing a more modern part (a red ring-like seal) that was supposed to fix our Mansfield toilet. The person demonstrating briefly held up this part, which he noted was used on older models. Our toilet was manufactured in 1982, and sure enough it works perfectly (very different than more modern models that use an all together different part). Perfect fit, no more slow leak and phantom flush, and very easy to install.

Quick, inexpensive maintanance parts
My old style Mansfield flush valves seem to be living forever... as long as I change the rubber seals every 8-10 years. The seals can be replaced in less than 60 seconds but new seals are getting more difficult to find. I should be okay for another few years and unless something finally breaks in the valves, I'll keep buying seals instead of installing new valves!

This thing saved the day
My girlfriend hired a plumber to come out and fix a leaking toilet. They told her the toilet was old and you couldn't get parts for it any more, but I had a hard time believing that so I started researching on the internet and found exactly the part we needed. It took about three minutes to swap out the old parts with the new ones and the toilet hasn't leaked since!

This replacement seal is for the older Mansfield toilets.
My toilet is 30+ yeas old and this seal is for those older toilets. I originally purchased a replacement at the local Big Box Store and although it was also a Mansfield seal, the design was different and didn't work or fit properly. This seal did fit properly and saved me having to replace the whole flush valve mechanism.

Worked Great - Save me Money
It's amazing how such a cheap part can save you so much money if you do it yourself. My toilet would run non-stop, and not being a plumber myself (or wanting to call one), I wasn't sure why, but decided to dig in to it myself in an attempt to figure out why. Our toilet is an older Mansfield type from the early 80's, and although everything about it works fine, it uses an older style mechanism than most newer toilets. After pulling apart the internals (of which there are only 3 or 4 moving parts) I determined the problem to be this rubber gasket. Ours was dried out and cracked and would no longer hold a seal.I searched local hardware and department stores for a replacement, but the only thing I could find was newer kits for newer style tanks (around $15-$20) or kits to convert older style tanks like ours to the newer style internals ($40-$50). I considered a conversion kit, but changed my mind when I looked at the types of materials used to make these newer kits... which all seemed much cheaper and shoddier than what the rest of our older tank internals were made of. Plastic screws, small plastic pins that hold moving parts together, etc.I decided to see if I couldn't find a replacement gasket online, and found this one on Amazon for $2. I was pretty excited - excited as one could be over toilet parts I imagine. The gasket came fast, installed in only a couple minutes, and has been good for months. This $2 part saved me from buying a $40-$50 toilet conversion kit, or even worse a $100-$150 toilet (which we were considering at first). If you're looking at this part you're probably weighing your options. Trust me, a complete stranger - just go with it. It's easy enough to do yourself without having to pay someone or convert to one of the newer, cheaper style of internal tank kits.

Real Deal
If you've tried to use a seal made my someone else try using this real Mansfield part. The rubber is quite different and makes a perfect seal instantly (in contrast to others that is much stiffer and can take WEEKS to properly seal. Worth paying twice as much.

Easy to replace!
I'm amazed that you can find these for such an old flush valve! Toilet was ghost flushing so I replaced the gasket and now it no longer leaks!

Did the trick! Easy replace!
Did the trick, stopped the leak. If it wasn't this, it would have meant trying to remove the 35 year old worn stripped screws to remove the tank from the bowl to replace the opposing gasket, so I'm very happy to say the least. Oh, for what it's worth, the owner put one of those stupid blue tank patties in the tank a week or so before the leak started. I'm speculating here but I think that debris from the patty contributed to malforming the gasket.
