Tricky is the true "Sorcerer"
What can I say about true brilliance? Tricky will drop a rock in your pond, then stand back and watch the wake. So close on the heels of "False Idol", I was shocked at the early release of this work. Thank the music deities he is so prolific right now. There are no duds in this batch. No songs where I thought, he could have left that out or, that's just filler. I bought the deluxe because I did not want to miss any songs. For me, Tricky is on a very short list of artists I buy sight unseen. By that I mean, when they have a new release, I order it instantly. I don't even preview the songs because I love the work so much, I'm almost sure I will not be disappointed.Everyone has there own individual tastes, but the two songs that got me out of my chair the most are "Lonnie Listen" and "My Palestine Girl". Every faux American rap performer (notice I did not say"Artist") should have to listen to "Lonnie Listen" and be told" this is how you construct a rap song. Pure brilliance.I also love this middle eastern vibe he is using on the last couple of CDs. "The Passion of the Christ" on False Idols continues to astonish me, and now again on "My Palestine Girl". Let's just say I love this disc. Funny side note: one of my other favorite performers, Lucinda Williams, recently noted in an interview that she is really into Tricky now. To me..,that's the universe spreading Karma. Buy this and tell your friends.

An original artist that cuts through the dull crud you hear almost everywhere
Tricky has grown and evolved with each new album. This one is no different. I little more fast paced in some songs, with a little more rap, but that doesn't take away from the insightful lyrics or melodies that Tricky artistically crafts. An original artist that cuts through the dull crud you hear almost everywhere.

It's nice to see that Tricky is back
It's nice to see that Tricky is back!this is some classic trip hop, he's stayed true to the style of his heyday. It's just darker. This is a DARK album. Kind of like Roots Manuva in a way.Nicely mastered, sounds good on vinyl.

Still Tricky
Tricky was one of Trip Hop's pioneers, along with acts like Lamb, Massive Attack, and Portishead. Over twenty years later, he's still widening his musical palette and experimenting. "Adrian Thaws" (his birth name, as well as title of his tenth and latest album) is his Club/Hip Hop record as he puts it.Songs like the slinky "Lonnie Listen" (featuring Mikki Blanco and Francesa Belmonte), "Gangster Chronicles" (featuring Bella Gotti), and the frenetic Rock-laced "Why Don't You" (featuring Bella Gotti) flirt with Hip Hop. "Nicotene Love" with shimmery synths and stomping beats (featuring Francesca Belmonte), and the more downbeat synth-driven "Right Here" (featuring Oh Land) flirt with Club.Elsewhere, we get more of his atmospheric bass-heavy sound with his languid rap delivery; the moody "Sun Down" (featuring Tirzah and sprinklings of guitar), the ethereal "Something In The Way" (featuring Francesca Belmonte and gentle beats that sound like heart beats), the Country/Blues twang of "Keep Me In Your Shake" (featuring Nigerian/German singer Nneka, who also appeared on his last album), the Jazzy "I Had A Dream" (featuring Francesca Belmonte), "My Palestine Girl" (with air-raid siren effects and tribal beats, the lyrics "She's trapped in Babylon, I tell her it won't be long", and featuring a guttural-sounding Blue Daisy) and the lovers rock "Silly Games" (featuring a breathy Tirzah and some delicate guitar work), a cover, previously a hit for Lindy Layton and Janet Kay.All these years later, and following so soon after last year's critically acclaimed "False Idols", it's good to see Tricky is still quite the maverick.

Cost Too High ~ Why ?
Though I would really like to own this CD, I can't rationalize paying doubt the price for ituntil I know exactly what is different between this and the $14.95 edition that is alsoavailable. There are no details as to what extras (if any) are included in this edition.

A career high
Since Massive Attack's early days I've always loved Tricky. There have been some patchy moments but there are few artists to match his leftfieldeclectic take on music and Adrian Thaws is, in my opinion of course, a career high. One of the absolute best albums of recent years. If you loved / love Massive Attack do not hesitate to buy this.

Loved it
Outstanding! Not purchased a CD of new music for about ten years - what a way to come back to the medium. Loved Tricky in the early days a few songs have the feel of that time.
