Cute and fun step-by-step series
The entire "1.2.3 Draw" series with Steve Barr is an excellent step-by-step cartooning system that will entertain and delight kids who love to doodle. Upon receiving this book, my daughters (10 and 6) oohed and ahhed over the adorable creatures and had trouble deciding which one to draw first, they were so excited. Sometimes with these kind of books I really have to direct them to understand the instructions, but not so with Steve's simple and clear approach. They opened the "1, 2, 3 Draw" and were on their way! Throughout the book, the author/illustrator encourages kids to look around them for sources of inspiration, to apply the skills learned in the book to other animals. The book even includes a cute certificate at the back that says your child has become a "cartooner's apprentice" which they can color and hang proudly on their bedroom wall.

Highly recommend!
These are the best drawing books for kids. Others tend to be too difficult and frustrating, even for an adult. These are easy to follow, with only a few steps for each drawing. The pictures are very cute and consist of just a few easy lines each. I've looked through many brands, but this one is by far the best. I bought one of each book and my kids LOVE them.

Best basic drawing book
This is a very basic instruction for drawing cartoon animals. Clear enough for my six year old grand-daughter to follow, its the best beginner book i have found. Having never had drawing instruction, at 65 it has given me the information I needed to start learning to draw, where other beginner instruction books seem to miss getting back to bare basics. This is an excellent tool for anyone who wants to draw.

Excellent Starter Book for Kids
Excellent starter book for kids! I picked up this book to add to my collection of drawing books in my classroom. The students have an opportunity once a week to spend time working on their drawing skills through drawing books. This particular book has been a favorite of many of the students who are beginners. My students are 11 and 12 years of age, 6th graders.

Good book but not much used
Looks like a good instruction book to beginner cartoonists, however my daughter who is pretty creative seems to prefer copying images she has seen on TV or coming up with her own character than following the steps in this book. She's nine.

Wonderful for my daughter
My 10 year old loves all the Steve Barr books. She is really into drawing and these make it fun and easy while teaching some of the basics of drawing using different shapes. Great buy for anyone learning to draw.

great series!
These are such a great series. I love how simple they are at teaching how to draw things. I plan on buying the whole series. Its a great time to spend with my kids. We (me and my older ones) draw pictures and my toddlers color them. Its a lot of family fun!
