Great tool for dog nails
This is a great answer to trimming nails for dogs that dislike clippers. We have a Vizsla with long brown nails. Her quick is very hard too see for clippers and the vet has failed to trim them as we did! I bought this tool and spent a few days acclimatising her to the noise and so on. She was fine with it quite quickly once she realised that it was not going to hurt.Works well and almost impossible to over trim them, You do have to hold the nail firmly to cut down on the vibration. Then the dog feels very little. You must only do each nail for a few seconds otherwise they get hot. Go round each nail once and then once more.

Works without guard
I've waited to review until I had this product a couple of months to have a better idea of its function. In general it works great and is not too noisy even on high and my dogs don't seem too bothered by it. Couple of things about the design I have an issue with. The plastic guard makes it nearly impossible to get my dogs nails to touch the file; they are are both staffies. I personally take the guard off to get access which then works a treat at filing their nails down but I did initially buy this product because it had the guard and I was new to filing my dogs nails due to not being able to get them professionally cut because of covid. The battery section at the bottom is a bit flimsy and keeps falling out now after a few uses. It does not stop me being able to use it if I hold it in place with tape. I think for beginners at cutting your dog's nails it can be a great product and works great once you get around some design flaws. I gave the product a 3 because it does work great without the guard but I did intend on using the guard initially and the battery pack keeps falling out so it is a bit awkward to use and I will be looking around for a better product long term. I wouldn't go back to taking my dogs to get their nails cut as they are less stressed at home so a good beginner item. A tip I found is filling a treat with doggy peanut butter makes them barely notice getting their nails trimmed!

Best nail file yet briliant
I have a vizsla and getting her nails done at the vet was a nightmare. I think he must have cut her when doing her nails as a pup as she goes mad screaming yelping and he only goes to the drawer to get the clippers. I had in my house a professional human nail system which uses round emery boards. This has been working fine and she gives me her paws etc. But it has been slow. I noticed this dremel dog file and thought I am going to give it a go. Its brilliant. I only use the low option but it is much quicker than my system and I can do more often. My vizsla has been great with it and i will buy new discs. Only thing it uses batteries so may become expensive but I love it.

Super easy to use and effective!
We have a Spaniel Mix who is used to being groomed and so he lies still while we grind his nails. Since COVID has closed the grooming shops, we've had to groom him at home and this grinder works great for those who are uncomfortable clipping dog nails. Our dog has black nails which makes it even more challenging. The pictures are after doing minimal grinding for 3 days in a row. I usually do 2 rotations of about 2-3 seconds per nail per day. You have to hold the nail firmly while grinding to prevent it from jumping around. It is battery operated and after 3 days of grinding they could be replaced. However, once we get them to a manageable length, I suspect once every two weeks would be sufficient. I'd definitely recommend this product!
