84V 3A Charger 72V Li-ion Battery Smart Charger Used for 20S 72V Li-ion Battery High Power with Fan Red Aluminum Case (84V3A 3P-Plug)

This is a really nice and powerful 84 volt charger. It has a cooling fan that stays on at all times so if you are wanting a completely silent charger you may want a different type. The main thing this charger is lacking is a variable voltage adjustment.Even set voltages would have been helpful.....Common E-bike/Scooter/Golfcart voltage:72,60,52,48,36,24 etc.All in all this is a really nice charger and it does it's job very well!! I figured I would mention a few things that could be improved to make this a even more rock solid charger!!Happy Charging and be safe everyone!!

Good Sur Ron/72 volt Litespeed battery slow charger for road trips without overworking my truck's alternator. My Litepeed 6 amp charger was pulling approx 50 amps ! from my truck's alternator so I decided to downsize to this charger. I power it through my truck's Aims 2500 watt inverter. Depending on the 72 volt battery's starting voltage my inverter pulls 21 to 26 amps from truck's alternator to power this charger. As measured through a kilowatt meter on a wall socket in my house it pulls 3.2 amps 260 watts to start and as battery voltage increases above 80 volts it pulls a max of 3.65 amps 280 watts. Time will tell if it lasts but I won't use it much since I don't go on a lot of road trips with my Sur Ron.

I used this to charge my 24S LiFePo4 battery pack that I built for an electric motorcycle. It is reasonably-priced and tops off the voltage just fine at my max capacity. It's ironic that you want 84V for a 72V battery, but look up your pack's or cells' max voltage, not just the nominal voltage.The charger's cooling fan is a little noisy when it's charging at full rate, but it turns off when it's in trickle mode.

Update after a few weeks of ownership: this charger is excellent. It does not build up a lot of heat, even if you forget to unplug it after charging your battery. Very happy with this purchase.Original review:This charger works perfectly with my 72V e-bike and scooter. Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I am not exaggerating. I bought one back in Autumn of 2020. It worked well the first couple of times I used it, and then it burned out. I thought that was just a defective model, so I bought another one. The second one I bought exploded as soon as I plugged it in on the second use and nearly caught my garage on fire. The video I supplied shows the smoke coming out of the unit.That a 100% failure rate and at least the second failure was series enough to have almost caused a house fire!

I bought this charger and used it two times. After the second use I heard a huge bang and saw a flash come out of the charger followed by a ton of smoke. After I let it cool off I took it apart and found the transistor blew up.

The charger arrived very quickly and appears to be in good condition. They sent the unit with 3 fuses which I thought was a nice touch in case one blew.The unit I received however, did not have the 3p connector, but something else entirely. For my project, because it's custom, this wasn't an issue for me. But if you are expecting a 3P/XLR type connector, don't be surprised if you need to replace the connector.
