Fantastic Rope!!!!
I am an avid work out kind of guy and I like to mix up my routines as much as possible. In doing so, I have added in jumping rope between my sets. I have owned a number of ropes, but have not found one that I like as much as this one. This is a fantastic rope - period. The action is very smooth (because of the barrings in the handle I assume) and the rope just feels good to use. The handles have a great feel to them and I have found that my speed and form have improved since getting this rope. I don't know exactly what it is (weight, construction, etc...) but I don't think that I would use another rope now. And, for $10 this thing is a screaming deal. Highly recommended.

Durability is lacking, but performance is tops.
I've had this rope over two years. I have snapped it twice. Both times it snapped at the handle, on the metal swivel. I would say I've had about 5 months of regular, 30 minute sessions with this rope.I've bought three ropes off amazon. This rope is the best performing one. I don't do too much fancy stuff, but I do a lot of crosses, double unders, and go for about 5 minutes at a time at 160rpm. This rope doesn't give me any troubles with that intensity of a workout, besides the occasional snap. Of course, I recommend adjusting it to your height which you can do by popping off the cap on the handle, uncrimping the metal with some plyers, and adjusting the rope length. I've used this rope on concrete, but it's really best designed for wood floors or hard rubber.

Painful without shoes
I have mixed feelings on this speed rope. It's heavy, fast, and rotates with little friction, but the cable is so heavy that you can't use this rope with just socks or barefeet as you might in the house, or light sneakers, as the the rope can do some serious pain damage when it hits your toes or feet on a misjump. The cable needs to be made much thinner for a better rating. If you have shoes on, it's a pretty good rope, but still pretty heavy -- and too heavy to start playing around with tricks or crossjumps unless you are sure you're not going to misjump. I like the ball bearing mechanisms, and the foam handles are well designed. The rope is a perfect length (probably not if you're shorter than say 5'9). If they came out with the same model and thinner cable I'd buy another to replace this. I still use my broken leather jump cable though instead of this. If they used a leather rope with this same configuration that would be ideal. In the mean time I'm going to have to buy another rope.

NON ADJUSTABLE FOR TALL PEOPLE ONLY
Im 5'7 and there is no why to adjuct this rope without hindering the swing. Great for maybe 6 foot or taller people but caution if your shorter. Other wise great sturdy quick rope

Descent but flawed
I jump rope quite a bit and have no trouble doing continuous crisscrossing double unders. I have worn out two of the black V**** jump ropes in the last two years and I've wasted close to $100 on different brands and styles before finally settling on the V**** brand. After breaking my last jump rope in half, I decided to try this Everlast despite it costing $10 more. For starters, this jump rope IS adjustable. It is not included in the description and there is some confusion about this in other reviews. It has quite a nice mechanism which allows you to easily adjust the length of the rope without tools. The mechanism itself is far more advanced than the metal one-time-use ring that you crimp on the V**** brand rope. This mechanism is clearly where the additional cost comes from. At first this mechanism seems nice, but ultimately it causes serious functional issues rendering this jump rope inferior to the V**** and clones which cost 1/3 the price. The rope is lighter, thinner and softer than V**** and clones. It also has a stong plastic smell which rubs off on hands and has not gone away after a month of use. This rope, being lighter and thinner, can be swung much faster with the same amount of force. The reason for the thinner rope is that the adjustment mechanism can not accomidate the rope by V**** and clones, I have tried. This brings me to the issues caused by the adjustment mechanism. The first and most serious issue is that the adjustment mechanism is too thick for the diameter of the inside of the grip near the bearing. The adjustment mechanism rubs on the inside of the grip, preventing the bearings from functioning as intended. After just one use, the adjustment mechanism showed clear signs of wear. It wasn't until I investigated why the bearings weren't functioning that I noticed this wear. The incresed friction results in more accidental kinks in the rope when doing crosses. It's not terrible, especially considering that the rope swings easier, but it is noticable. The second and less serious issue caused by the adjustment mechanism is the cap at the end of the grip. I immeditely remove and throw away the neoprene grip, prefering to wrap the plastic handles with athletic tape. I assume a significant portion of people do the same. The Everlast jump rope has a cap which snaps on to the outside of the end of the grip and does not sit flush. This is slightly annoying when the neoprene grip is removed. The cap is not needed, but because the cap snaps onto the outside of the grip, there are ridges on the outside of the grip at the end of the handle which are noticible while using the jump rope. It wasn't until I attempted to use the adjustment mechanism in a V**** grip that I understood why the screw-in cap would not work. The adjustment mechanism is too big to fit in the hole at the end of the V**** grip because of the threading required by the screw-in cap.Overrall, this is a useable jump rope and is much better than many. Despite it's flaws, I find double unders easier with this jump rope than with the V****. With that said, I prefer the V**** and have already purchased a replacement.

Pricey but Good Rope for the Long Haul
The plastic "rope" is thinner than that on my other, earlier, version Deluxe Speed Rope. I was dismayed at first because it's not as heavy and doesn't give my arms the same workout but it also doesn't leave quite the same large welt when I hit my leg so I'm happy. Definitely a convert to the plastic ropes; I'd been using leather ropes for years but got tired of replacing the leather and find these provide a better overall workout. The handles are comfortable, it's easy to adjust for height and looks to be easy to replace the rope when it breaks.

Very nice
It's been a while since my rope jumping days, so I read the feedback on the item prior to buying to figure out if the length would be good for my height.I'm 5'7" - I'd say it's a border line for using a 9ft rope. A person shorter than 5'6" would have to adjust the length.I didn't have to make any adjustments, it's great for my height, love the fact that the rope is on a heavier side - doesn't require much of a wrist action (jumping is a challenge enough at this point).Very pleased with the purchase.

Gutes Springseil
