Lowrance HOOK Reveal 5", 7" and 9" Fish Finders with Transducers

this unit is very hard to understand. has way to many options for the technically challenged. After I figured out how to use the basics, I only got half a summers use. damn thing couldn't handle being stored in a box on a shelf in a shed over winter. It's a useless piece of glorified junk. I'm never buying again. Manufacture won't replace or fix.

The only issue I have with this fish finder is that I wish I would have gotten the 7 inch instead. Very user friendly and easy to set up. I liked it so well that I bought the 7 inch to install at my trolling motor. Works as good as my Humminbird and my Garmin on my other boat.

Not a bad little unit. Easy to install and figure out for the basics to get it going. My only issue is no standard map on the GPS. Just a white screen. At least put a standard nautical map on the Hook 5.5 so that one person who installs it and runs out in the back country or ocean can find his way back in. The box and advertisement is so deceiving. Had I know I needed it, I would have just bought the maps when I got this. Instead I had to drive myself crazy figuring out what was wrong with that feature.

Work well in some areas of water

I dislike the Lowrance Hook 5 Reveal and would not recommend it to anyone for two reasons. Yes, it came with everything I needed to get it operational but the number one reason is it would not send a sonar signal to the fish finder. It showed the water temperature, the speed I was going but no return on the sonar signal. I thought it was because I had placed it in the wrong place in my Kayak so I relocated the transducer and still no return. The instructions that came with the Lowrance were about as good as the ones that come with the Apple iPhone, worthless. I finally ordered a plastic holder that I had to install by drilling 8 screws in my Ocean Pacific Kayak to hold the mounting rail. After placing the Transducer in the water, still no signal. I went to the best place in the World for trouble shooting, YouTube and found out there is an on/off button for the Sonar signal. Mine was turned off from the factory. Who in the world would put a on/off button on a depth finder. Stupid. Now I think my Transducer was working fine inside the Kayak but now I have a large plastic apparatus attached to my Kayak. Lowrance was no help but someone on YouTube was. Don’t buy unless you want to take a chance that your signal is working from the factory. I waited too long to return this unit or I would have and bought a Hummingbird unit.

I have this in a 5" and a 7". One on the console, one at the bow. Great for seeing underwater detail and the fish reveal feature helps a dummy like me see the fish arch data glow from the background structure data and bottom. I really do not use the GPS/mapping features which I will admit are not great but I fish small lakes so this series lowrance works well for what I need. Vertical jigging, I was able to see my lure descending and ascending and fish reaction as well.

Great product

Over all I’m pretty impressed with it. The only thing I can complain about is I didn’t get the memory card with the almost 400$ spent on this you would think they would check these kinds of things. Also the mapping is just a blank white screen so now on top of the almost 400$, I need to purchase maps to download onto the Lowrance system. Hummingbird has a unit a little cheaper with maps downloaded on their system all ready for use. In my opinion do not get this if you are wanting to use the maps to navigate around. Like I said it’s just a white screen with a marker showing where you go but no actual map so it’s just a line on a blank white screen lol but the downscan and high chirp sonar work awesome. My overall experience would be that I wish I did more research before purchasing even though I don’t use the mapping to get around because I know the River I fish really well but I would like to have had it with the Almost 400$ spent
