Just like I remember
I grew up with the Mega Drive and this feels just like I remember! It's a little cheap and rattly, but then gaming peripherals were all like that back them, so I consider it a point of authenticity rather than a flaw. USB cable is nice and long too. I've been replaying the old Sonic games with it and it's nostalgia heaven. (Protip: check out Sonic Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute, and Sonic 3 AIR for the best ways to play those games in 2023!)

Almost perfect, but has some flaws that prevent a 5-Star rating
Tested on Windows 10 with Sonic Mania on Steam. Did not work on standard D-input, but pressing and holding B+Start for 5 seconds activates X-input (simulates XBox controller), which works. Unfortunately, the buttons on that game can't be remapped for ABC - you have to use ABXY (same letters as XBox controller), which is more awkward for quick 3-button spin dash.I also used this controller with Cup Head on GOG Games (not Steam), and the buttons are re-map-able, which makes the game easier, as you can use the shoulder buttons and face buttons for easier access. The D-pad feels nice, and face buttons have quite a lot of travel, but are comfortable and familiar with the original control pad from the 90's. The shoulder buttons have a nice click to them and short travel distance. All buttons except the shoulder ones have a classic membrane pad which is tactile (clicky), and not spongey like old well-used controllers can be. I think the shoulder buttons use tactile switches. The D-pad may not be ideal for fighting games where you have to do a circular motion, because you can push the whole d-pad part in, which presses all the d-pad buttons and blocks any input from working. This can happen when you are doing a fireball or dragon uppercut as Ryu on Street Fighter for example, or a 360 pile driver as Zangief, or similar Tekken moves. The original 3-button controller from the 90's had a pivot point in the middle that prevented this from happening, so it's a shame this has been overlooked here. This is one reason I can't give a 5-star rating. The other reason I gave 4 stars is that I wish I could remap the buttons more. There are a couple of macros where you hold a 2 buttons, and this swaps some of the inputs, but does not allow C and X or Y to be swapped when X-input is used, as C is more useful on some games, so it relies on the games having remapping options in the menu. Finally, it doesn't work on PSTV (PS Vita TV) console because unfortunately that console does not use USB for communication, only for charging, and uses bluetooth for comms. I have yet to test PS3 and Raspberry Pi, but this claims to work on those platforms. I might also test on Linux and Mac at some point. If you get this for playing emulators on Windows, it should work really well, as most emulators can fully remap the controls. It should work on any PC game where you can use a USB controller. The USB cable is very long, so you can play across the room from the TV without straining the cable.

Fragile
