I finally stopped buying the cheaper ratchets. These are much better quality and function. There are reviews that point out having to press 2 points to release. Not sure if it is this is what they are talking about but once released, you only need to pre the white tab to spool out more length. Hope this is helpful. Appearance is nice as well.
