Quality materials used but attention to detail lacking.
The knife was very blunt and had a small stain on the blade. However, with a little work I did manage to get an extremely sharp edge. The knife has beautiful balance and is very comfortable in the hand. The timber handle was spoilt by the machine used to grind down the rivets through the handle. The result is that whatever was used to grind down the rivets caused burning of the timber resulting in a black stain. The wooden sheath is a novel approach but a part broke of very easily and had to be glued back into position. Overall I like this Knife but it needs a lot more attention to finishing detail to warrant the price.

This is a very well designed knife. It's too bad the workmanship on it is so poor. My knife arrived with nicks in the paint, small chips in the wood handle, and the rivets on the handle were not flush. It's good, but it could have been so much better if the manufacturer paid more attention to detail.

Misleading title
Japanese and Damascus are not related in anyway. Furthermore, the Damascus blade making techniques have been lost for hundreds of years (unless the college lab that recently claimed to have found it again is correct afterall), and anyone selling mislabeled items should be punished. This is not Damascus steel, or anything similar.Sub part quality. Be warned.
