K & S PRECISION METALS 8247 247 Metal Strip, 0.064 in T

This is a one piece package of K&S Precision Metals 8244 Brass Strip, 0.032" Thick x 2" Wide x 12" Long. This thin brass strip is individually wrapped for protection. K&S offers many types of metal pieces in various sizes, lengths and forms. All K&S metals are perfect for craft making, model building, DIY and more. I purchased this particular brass strip because I had a need for a custom shim. I had purchased a cycle attachment for my exercise equipment. It was when I was assembling this cycle attachment that I noticed that the way the legs bolt in to the housing of the cycle piece, it would be very wobbly while in use. To fix this, I made a shim to fit between the leg and the frame up inside of the housing. Fortunately, I was able to determine the exact thickness of sheet metal I needed — I used a dial Caliper to measure this area with. Remarkably after figuring out my dimensions, I was able to find almost the exact thickness needed in a piece of K&S brass strip. With a little patience and a little bit of hard work, I was able to cut this shim out — and a few extras. By hand, I was able to make the shim to the desired size and shape. My shim pieces turned out perfectly. K&S Precision Metals will make any small project that much easier!

The measurements match the advertised specifications, so, that's good. I Resore antique clocks and I'm confident that I will be able to use this material to fabricate the parts I intended to use it for. Just note that it is raw brass sheet and that it will react to even slightly acidic materials (like skin oils) until protected with laquer coating. My brass sheet came with no less than a dozen dark fingerfrints etched into it (even on the areas with protective packaging) which required a lot of additional (careful) cleaning just to end up with slightly less noticeable fingerprints all over the sheet. I'm sure that Brasso or 0000 fine steel wool will eventually take out the fingerprint marks. I just can't have scratched up brass parts for my purposes. Guess I didn't count on having to spend this much time buffing out someone else's etched in, greasy pepperoni finger funk from my purchase. Otherwise, 5 stars.

Exactly what I needed to restore a 1910 desk. The feet were wrapped at the base with brass and 3 were missing. The width and thickness were a perfect match.

Went as expected. Arrived in perfect shape. Would by from this seller again.
