Dark Souls - Prepare to Die Edition (PS3)

The game will keep you coming back day after day. Out of the five games in the Souls series, this game I always have the most time with on a playthrough. First playthrough was 203 hours for me. All the dlc is included on this disc. No downloads other than update for game.Also, out of all the Souls games, this one has the best level connecting/intersections the series has to offer. You always open that "door" or "ride that elevator", next thing you know your back to an area you were weeks before and it always gives you that "WoW" feeling. From Software sets the bar for level design as well as having the best combat system there is. No one will argue it either that has played the series.

The title of the game say it all, prepare to die. This game offer a hard and fair challenge. If you buy this and don't like to die and take your time to study the game, don't buy this. It's for the hardcore gamers, casuals will put it aside after 2-3 hours as the story line is far from being unfold. You want a game that take you by the hand and tell you what to do/where to go? Forget Dark Souls. You want freedom of exploration and challenge? Try this out.

I bought this version purely for my sealed collection of Souls games. I am a huge Souls-fan, like many others, and this game was basically what set the standard after Demon Souls 10 years ago. If you've never played Souls games before I'd recommend starting off with Demon Souls, regardless, and work your way up the ladder. Each game basically builds on itself in terms of gameplay dynamics and lore and having the basics from the very beginning will help you immensely when you eventually get to Dark Souls 3 and/or Elden Ring.The Souls series is completely different from anything you've played before so getting used to this type of game dynamics will take time, especially if you bother learning the most effective way of playing. If you try to mimic your gameplay from other games in Souls games, you'll be sorely disappointed and you'll most likely give up.I've beaten this game probably 10+ times already, both on PS3 and PS4 (Remastered Version). This is pure art! If you could compare this to something, I'm sure I could go as far as saying that Miyazaki created in Souls games what Monet or Da Vinci created in their paintings. (Note: NOT Dark Souls 2. I've 100% DS2 too, but that game doesn't fit in one bit with Demon Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls 3, just for reference. The DLC for DS2 I believe was created by Miyazaki and that's definitely worth playing, but as far as the Dark Souls 2 base game...It's a cartoon. It's practically a joke).This game; 11/10!
