I spent about two hours cleaning, greasing and twiddling about with the 20 year old pop-up mechanism on my sink, following online videos. All my experience of plumbing told me that this pop-up mechanism is incredibly simple and that it should be serviceable. But alas, no luck. Nevertheless, I was a bit reluctant to take the plunge and buy a replacement which might fall apart in 12 months, regardless of how cheap it is.Well, I bit the bullet and spend the piddly £4. The item looks fantastic quality, and I'd be willing to bet that it will last 10-15 years. But it's only been 24 hours, so fingers crossed...
