where do you put a dc 5v.1a battery for power supply?

it is a step-down regulator. for example, put a dc 6-24v battery input, it will output 5v.

What is the frequency and magnitude of the ripple on the output?

In practical use, it's been working perfectly on my quad for operating the flight controller. For your question, I tried using my 150 DSO shell kit to get a reading. I was unable to measure the freq/mag of the ripple. It looked rather clean, with just the slightest random notch on the plot. Vmax: 5.19 Vmin: 5.03 Vave: 5.11. It could not lock on to any kind of a ripple. Could be beyond the limits of my DSO, or operator error.
