Love love love this book! It’s reading a captivating story while learning bits of history and being introduced to amazing pillars of American independence that we’ve not necessarily heard about in our history books. If you’re a history lover this is a must read.

Mr Ryun has produced an exemplary work of historical fiction with lessons and implications as current as today's news. He introduces both the young American Founders and their British adversaries in a way that brings distant events to a fuller understanding and appreciation. Men like Dr. Joseph Warren - largely lost to a modern generation through substandard education - become key to our comprehension of the degree of commitment men of the era had to their core values. Perhaps one of the most salient points that Ryun makes is that when countrymen - because both sides initially viewed themselves as loyal Englishmen - are no longer able accept that they share common values that a split - usually violent - is a logical result. This is a vitally important work for both understanding of our historal predecesors and as guidance for present controversies.

A timely book to help America remember the battle for our freedoms! Dr. Joseph Warren is an inspiring figure and Ned Ryun does a wonderful job of telling us his story.

The author embellishes events a bit, in the interest of storytelling - but does not defy actual history, and his portrayal of events is riveting. I didn't know anything of Dr. Warren's role before I started reading. And I live near the town of Warrenton VA. Named after Dr. Warren, or a close relative, yeah?

We've all heard of Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln, but this is the compelling story of a man who helped change the course of American History and how Dr. Joseph Warren made the ultimate sacrifice for his country.
