I would say yes, for the most part. It's better to say "highly water-resistant." I mean, all shoes, except rubber boots, will eventually get wet, but these are very good.

Yes they work very well for those long of days. I'm not sure how wet of conditions your talking about but I have had a heavy rain once with them on and didn't feel anything leak through. Also as long as it's a small puddle, they should be fine.

Are these shoes suitable for walking around for a long period of time?

Went hiking in them for my break in and was fine. Walked around 3 miles in them that day.
