I don't like romances!
I don't read romance stories, always think of Mills and Boon! But Absolutely loved loved loved this book! Have tried read Jo Jo Moyes before, but nothing gelled so was dubious with this one, really enjoyed it though.

Enjoyable story
I bought this book based on the positive reviews, but to be honest i wasn't sure what to expect; It could easily have become a cliche, but luckily for me i really enjoyed it, and was very glad to have bought it.The story focuses on two periods in time, and on two women, Jenny and Ellie, who through a series of coincidences come together - Ellie, whose life is not as she had expected it to be, finds a letter which was published in a paper, which leads her to try to find the writer, and to find out what happened to the author of the letter. Through this, we hear the story of Jenny and Boot. For me, the story of Jenny and Boot was lovely; Maybe because it was set in an era when everything was so different, but i really related to Jenny and enjoyed travelling her journey with her. Her own confusion and memory loss meant that the reader is given titbits of information, not piecing the full story together until near the end. I thought that this worked really well.Elli's story, as other reviewers have also commented, was not quite as gripping although i did still enjoy it. Elie's situation is one which many people struggle to relate to anyway, and Ellie as a character seemed at times quite immature and self-centred. This did appear to change towards the end. She was however well written as a character, and i did enjoy reading about her situation which is the sign of a good author!I did not like the 'break-ups' which started each chapter - they really irritated me and didn't make much sense in relation to the plot.I would read again and look following this will look for other books by this author as she has shown that she has talent. Reading her biography, i think this must come from having been a journalist previously, and this knowledge helped when describing how both Ellie and Boot functioned within their day to day lives as reporters.

A compelling read - couldn't put it down
I bought this book after reading Me Before You and I'm so glad I discovered this author. This one started slowly and I admit the first chapter didn't really grab my attention so I put the book down, forgot about it for a while and picked it up two or three days ago and suddenly it came to life. Compared to books I usually read this one was quite thick at almost 500 pages so I thought it'd take me ages to finish. However, to my surprise it was so good I've finished it in a matter of days. Don't get me wrong, I thought I'd enjoy it and that it'd be good once it got going but it's so good that I've been up until all hours of the early morning reading and "quick" baths have turned into marathon sessions because the story has been so compelling.I constantly felt I HAD to keep on reading to find out what would happen next and I thought it was a beautiful storyline and very well written. Once again reading one of her books I've found myself reflecting on my own life and I love reading theese kind of books that make you stop and think. After reading these two books and being so blown away I think I am now going to have to work my way through a few of her others. Admitttedly I didn't find this as moving as Me Before You and it didn't have me at extremes of emotions, i.e sitting there giggling away to myself one minute and crying my eyes out the next but it certainly had me hooked and I can't say I've read any books like JoJo Moyes' books (which have been my two recent reads) in a while that I've been so taken with. The only negative thing I have to say is that there are a hell of a lot of typos and on one occasion actually double checked that it was an official copy rather than an unfinished version but there was no mistake. It was a bit annoying sometimes but quickly forgotten because I was so engrossed in the plot. Now I guess it's time to get back to reality for a little while until I get stuck into the next book, hopefully another one by this author. Definitely worth a read and I'd recommend to anyone who likes a good love story.

Beautifully written love story.
A dual timeline story centered around infidelity, this is a different kind of read from Jojo Moyes compared to her later books, but one I enjoyed just as much, she really is a very talented author and I've nearly made my way through all of her books now.Present Day. Ellie is a journalist, but her work is suffering as she is so consumed by the relationship she is having with a married man. Told by her editor to bring her work up to scratch 'or else', Ellie heads to the newspapers archives to begin research for a feature. There, she discovers an old love letter and Rory, the librarian archivist. Investigation into the letter leads her back in time, and it is this part of the book that held most appeal for me as it was beautifully written with wonderful characters and descriptions of the era.1960's. Jennifer Stirling has just woken with semi-amnesia after being involved in a car crash. Sent home with her rather cold husband who she has little recollection of, she tries to carry on with the life she is told she lived before. When she starts to find hidden love letters written to her and signed by 'B', she realises that her heart lay with another before the accident and sets out to find who he is.The two stories merge together beautifully and this would have been a 5 star read for me had it not been for the rather confusing way the before and after chapters of Jennifer's accident were presented. For a while I thought she met 'B' after her accident, and I see others made the same error. Another negative was the large number of grammatical errors throughout the book that had me reading sentences twice to try and make sense of them. Considering it was first published in 2011, I would have thought these could have easily been rectified on a digital edition by now. This was however a wonderfully written love story slightly let down by the points mentioned above.
