Had gutters clogged with leaves. Tried the usual coat hanger and romex, but these are too flimsy and unmaneuverable to get around the corners.There are shorter and cheaper snakes, but this is so easy to use that it's worth paying a few bucks more. In less than one minute I cranked the snake through the obstruction and cleared the gutter. The key is the storage housing, which allows you to crank the whole snake easily and quickly, driving the screw on the end through obstructions and around corners. The flexibility and stiffness of the metal snake is ideal to let it flop around and make the turns as you crank it, and to clear the debris once you've gotten past the turns.The problem with the cheaper snakes is that they don't have the enclosure that allows you to twist the snake rapidly and freely. There's also the annoyance and time taken to coil the snake up for storage. Both of these problems are taken care of elegantly with the rotary enclosure.I wasted at least an hour trying the coat hanger and romex, when I could have been off the roof munching on buttered toast if I had gotten this snake instead.
