Yes, it is a good temporary fix. It isn't as strong as new but as long as you aren't rough with them it will work

So, if it needs UV light for the glue to harden, how do you glue together things that aren't transparent????????

UV glue for fly tying is normally used as a protective coating. It’s not designed to adhere two substances together.

I will say, I don't know because after few uses of the UV light it quit and few attempts to replace the batteries it failed to lit, so, I never use it again.
