Let’s face it: men, especially older men, are reluctant to seek medical help, especially when the issue is more of an inconvenience than an emergency. As an older man, I fall into that category. I persistently suffer from what is no doubt a slightly enlarged prostrate. Many nights I make 2,3 even 4 trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night. While conducting corporate presentations, I cross my fingers that I make it through my speech without calling for a bathroom break. Before boarding a flight, I don’t drink anything for fear I’ll have to get out of my seat and go to the back of the plane. So prostrate problems have impacted my way of life. Amazingly, an OTC supplement has changed all that. I bought a bottle of Saw Palmetto based on what the supplement claims to do for frequent urination. Saw Palmetto is apparently useful for several things. It uses organic a saw palmetto berry extract to assist with frequent urination issues, stamina, and even receding hairlines. I’m not a supplement scientist, but I have some knowledge of the ingredients, including beta sitosterol, phytosterols, flavonoids & fatty acids. I never heard of saw palmetto berries but I decided to give it a try. The bottle came with 100 capsules to be taken one capsule a day. So, going into this with no major expectations, I included the Saw Palmetto capsules in my diet, with a focus on the persistent urination affecting my sleep, my fears, and my anxiety. I began taking the capsules as recommended. By the 6th night, I could tell a difference. My frequent midnight trips to the bathroom were starting to trend down. They consistently went from 3 trips to 2 trips! That was a major victory for me. By the 10th night, I was starting to get away with a night or two where it was 1 trip to the bathroom. For an active older man in his 60s, this was significant. Even better, I noticed the routine was starting to edge more towards 1 trip a night more often. I did not alter my habit of drinking water before bed or curtailing other activities that would have an impact on the midnight runs. As I’m writing this review, my bathroom visits are easily half what they were prior to taking Saw Palmetto. I even had a night where I slept completely through, which I can’t remember the last time that happened. As for stopping receding hairlines and increased stamina, it’s too early to tell, but those reasons were not considered for taking the supplement to begin with. it's all about the numbers - does your PSA go down upon taking the supplement? Mine did - and I know that's no guarantee that it's due to this product, but I'm very glad - and not a little bit relieved - to see my PSA numbers stabilize and actually decrease upon taking this product for a year and a half. experience no side effects, and the product is reasonably priced. I put mine on subscription so I don't run out!

My husband was getting up going to bathroom several times in the middle of the night, but within 1 week of taking the saw palmetto he is down to getting up only once. The capsules are small and easy to take. They seem to be working well so far. Hopefully we will see the other benefits with continuous use.
