the original design from Dell was flawed and this is a great replacement
I searched hard to find a 4.5mm barrel. And could not find a 90 degree one. I will leave that up to my IT guy that fixes all my cords and adds 10ft or so since the plugs next to hotel beds are usually not accessible. This fits a Dell computer that was a lemon from day one. Designed to fail and it did in less than a year not considered a warrantied part by Dell the worse computer owned. I was desperate as 17 touch screens started to disappear and missed the buy window for electronics so I paid a premium. Thankfully my talented IT guy will get my Gateway of the same size given to him in 3 pieces returned to me in full working order and this one with something else soon to break can be set up behind a nice monitor with the wireless keyboard and mouse I purchased with it. It's sad when you have something new and know if you take it with you or put too much use on it is going to break. This AC adapter is a great buy with the same specs at a quarter of the price Dell wants a less than a year old and poorly designed in the sense the power cord needs a good 3 inches of straight untouched length of cord or either the cord will short like mine did or the internal jack will fail. Now that my IT guy is 3 hours from me his awesome fixes are a little harder to obtain. He will talk the old one and put a 90 on it like it should have and open up the laptop and strengthen the power jack I can tell is half loose.

Failed
I bought this 90W adapter for my Dell. When it arrived it didn't work. Returned it for a replacement. That one worked for 7 weeks, then went dead. It can't be that hard to make a reliable adapter - can it???

Does NOT fit a Dell 7300 as promised.
Said it was made to replace the Dell 7300 but that is NOT the case. Barrel connector is small diameter and will likely fit some Dell computers, but not necessarily the ones it claims. Had to send it back.

This item only lasts 4 months

Stopped working for my Laptop anymore.
This worked great for two months. Now my Dell laptop will not recognize it. It will no longer charge or power my laptop.
