Too complicated an issue is being introduced
Right, I won't be spoiling the read fir you by going into too much detail but you have to realise you are buying your child a book about a mother's death. Well, not ABOUT it. But this is a subject that the book keeps returning to. And as such, I do not think that a child's feeling of grief has been addressed properly, to be honest. A child will suffer greatly by imagining another person in their mother's place. And this right of the child has to be taken into account. This book fails greatly in this respect. As to the reat of the things in this book, I find it superb (apart from everything being set in a completely unrealistic scenario). The pictured pages are great, the narrative is being told in a child-friendly manner. The events (apart from the fantasy ones) are quite easy to relate to. And it would have been 6 stars from me were it not for the ease with which the subject I already mentioned us being brushed off eventually. I don't think that this book will really offer any comfort to children in similar circumstances or inspire them to take a lighter approach..

Aldrin Adams and the Cheese Nightmares
Aldrin Adams loves cheese which is just as well as he’s got a very special power - when Aldrin eats cheese before he goes to sleep he can go into other peoples dreams! Sometimes the dreams are like a nightmare, they can get a bit scary but other times they’re funny and make no sense - Aldrin needs to work out what’s going on!Aldrins dad owns a cheese shop but it hasn’t been doing too well recently, dad has had letters from the bank. There’s so much stuff going on for Aldrin there’s the family stuff, new school stuff and all this stuff every time he eats cheese! Wow so much stuff! One things for sure though - Aldrin knows his cheese, there’s so many different varieties but Aldrin knows lots about stinky cheeses! This is a book that’ll have you laughing. When Aldrin is in a dream the pages are a darker colour to symbolise bedtime which is a really good idea. This is a story about a boy with a super power and how he learns all about his special abilities. It’s a hardback book which contains illustrations throughout that bring the characters to life. This is 411 pages of a fantastic story. Suitable for ages 8+
