Most auto feeders probably work just fine. A problem arises with regard to how it fits with your aquarium's cover and light system. I found that the design of the barrel type feeders was too large and therefore incompatible with the type of cover on my aquarium. The fish feeder that works best for my tank is narrower. I suggest that readers of this review make sure that they check that there is the right amount of space for the feeder or the feeder will dispense food all over the top of your aquarium cover rather then feed the fish.

This was a great and reliable feeder that does 2 feedings in a 24 hr period .It worked so well and was easy to set up .It did take a few attempts to adjust the door so the right amount of food was dropped . As we were using the fish flakes , we crushed them up a bit before putting them in the feeder .

I wanted a feeder for vacationing. It was impossible to find a feeder that was compatible with flakes - they typically turn to mush within a day. This one worked great! No mush and love the portion control options. You have to play with it a bit to figure out the portion size that’s going to come out, but it is very consistent on portion and feeding time. Just be sure to set it up (add batteries and turn it on) at the time you want your fish to eat as there are really no controls on it. Would be cool if you could set feeding times manually. Very simple, minimalistic kind of feeder but worth the purchase
