Refresher vs. polish.
When I first started learning about how to care for hardwood, I really did my homework. My husband and I have an older home with hardwood floors that were in need of a new finish. I thought I would try a product that would tide us over until he could do the thorough job of a new polyurethane finish.I called the company to find out all the answers about these products because I read so many conflicting reviews about the refresher and the polish. Many people didn't really understand the difference between them or how to use them. This is what I found out:(1)The refresher is the product that was right for us. We have wood floors that had a polyurethane finish on them, and they hadn't been refinished for about 6 years. They were looking so dull, and I felt they were becoming damaged from the water and dirt being tracked in, but with the holidays upon us, I didn't want us to take on the more time consuming project of refinishing with polyurethane. I wanted something that could be done quickly and easily and would look nice and keep the floors from getting more damaged. The refresher is the product made specifically for floors that already have a polyurethane finish on them. The refresher is a polyurethane product itself and so it combines chemically with your finish and will NOT have to be stripped off when you go to refinish your floors. When you use the refresher, it will add a beautiful luster and it will only take minutes to apply and minutes to dry.(2) Not so with the polish. It is NOT meant for floors that you intend to eventually refinish with polyurethane. It is just as easy to use, it looks just as nice, and it will cover over your polyurethaned floors just fine, but once you use it, you CANNOT use the refresher over it (a polyurethane product) and you CANNOT refinish your floors with polyurethane after using the polish, without first stripping off the polish. Before I understood the difference I went ahead an used the polish on one section of my floors, my hallway. After that, I found out that I should have used the refresher since we intend to refinish our floors with polyurethane. But from this point on, I will have to always use the polish on my hallway and the refresher everywhere else, unless I want to go through the trouble of stripping off the polish and using the other product only. Since the polish did a great job putting a shine on the floors, I will just continue to use it on that one spot.(3) I specifically asked the company which is the more durable product, and they stated unequivocally that the refresher is the longer-lasting, more durable finish.(4) I asked if you have to use a damp pad to apply, or a dry one. The company said that they used to say use a damp one. Now they recommend using a dry one. The reason is because they figured some people would use a pad that is too wet and would affect the product results. My opinion is that you should definitely use a damp one, but ring it out so it is barely damp. Otherwise you will waste too much of the expensive product in the pad as it would soak so much more of it up. Anyway, the company recommends rinsing out your pad as you go if you are doing a large area. I found you don't need to rinse anything if your floors were very clean to start. It is very simple to use. Just squirt it on just as it says, generously, and then glide it all over the floor. You can do a dining room in 5 minutes. And it will be dry to walk on in socks in 20 minutes. Atleast that was my experience. I didn't have to block the kids from using any rooms really because it dried so fast.I also love their floor cleaners and their tile polish. The more coats you use (whether it be the tile polish or any others) the shinier your floors will turn out. They all worked so well. And they go a long way. And they don't strip off the polish that you apply to the floors.

It did just what I needed it to do
I have wanted to have my wood floors refinished for years, but I haven't had the resourced to do so. I was willing to accept even a little nicer than the worn out floors I had. I had been spot cleaning spills and occasional dog accidents, and then doing some general mopping. Clean was OK, but not really satisfying. The shine I wanted, however, was out of reach.Somehow, I ended up on the Bona page on Amazon. I previously had ordered a Bona product that didn't do hardly any better than what I was using. I went back to Amazon, and found the Bona Pro Series Hardwood Floor Refresher, and bought that. Not really expecting anything better, I applied it with a soft cloth on my hands and knees to a small strip of wood in my dining room (a place where I could remove it if I hated it). I was very surprised and pleased with the result. I looked at it from different angles in different lighting. The floor had a deep lustrous glow that I liked a great deal. Not shiny glossy (but then I didn't want that). Lustrous and pleasing. I applied it on my hands and knees, because I always do my kitchen floor on my hands and knees - something earthy and tactile, very satisfying about it. I could see up close what I was doing and covering, and I felt I had far more control of the product being applied to the wood. I had received one of these terrible applicators with the other Bona product (TOTAL waste of money - no control whatsoever with a pole that wobbled all over the place and pads I didn't think did any good), and I ended up on my hands and knees anyway. This product was easy to apply, easy to control during application, no unpleasant smell, good coverage, quick drying (faster than the bottle says), and made places in the floor worn by heavy traffic and dog shoe damage regain pleasing appearance. It's not as good as having the floors sanded, stained, and resealed, but for the price, I'm happy. 32 OZ. covered a lot of floor, even though I was generous. I was on a tight schedule, and although I could only do sections of a few square feet at a time, I got the job done in plenty of time. And each time I stopped, I sat back and appreciated the results. Can't beat that.I like this product a lot, and I'm going to order more. Good product, good value. I recommend it.
