College Reading and Study Skills (13th Edition)

In this edition, the skills taught to read actively are useful in helping high-school students to appreciate the way writers engage their readers: through good content and language, and also logical organisation. When working on the exercises, students are forced to engage with the text at a few levels, taking us from mere functional readers to veritable critical readers. Advisedly, we cannot under-estimate the value of the skills taught in this edition, especially when many students struggle with understanding nuanced language and the use of literary and linguistic devices used by writers (and speakers) to convey meaning.There are other critical reading books on the bookshelves that may also be as effective, but this edition is more detailed, more user-friendly and also good to use to support teaching pedagogy.
