Vent melted in tank
Identical replacement, in appearance, but would only fit in tank if no grommet was used. After eight months and approximately 12 hours of use the vent has melted on bottom exposed to gas. Can anyone explain why it would melt. Thanks. This is a follow up to the above. I have raised to 5 star for two reasons. 1. The seller offered and submitted a refund. 2. The replacement that I received was at least 1” shorter than the damaged vent. The fuel was easily reaching the longer vent and had softened the plastic to the consistency of a marshmallow. The longer damaged vent was wet from gas when I removed it for replacement. While I ordered the same unit the second time it’s designed was again at least 1” shorter. All is well that ends well.

the vent melted on the bottom where it was inside the tank and engine ran poorly
worked great for the first 10 months and then engine began to misfire and not start etc and tank walls looked like were warping- finally figured out the vent was melted and the valve was non-functional- really frustrated took all this time to diagnose the issue bc has been running rough for months and never suspected the new fuel vent valve would be the problem. Obviously there is a material composition problem for the rubber to melt bc of regular gas fumes.
