Can it be washed with fabric softener

NEVER use fabric softner on bamboo fibers it will damage them. The blanket will feel kind of stiff when you take it out of the washer, but upon drying it will be incredibly soft.

Does it actually work? Does it stay cool all night?

Yes, the blanket really works. It stays cool all night long. I get very hot at night and this blanket helps a lot. I love it!
