Once upon a time... There was a lttle girl who got a small box of these metal squiggly things for Christmas one year. After much thought and perseverance she figured out how to separate one of the 2 part sets. The overwhelming sense of accomplishment was nearly palatable. That was, however eclipsed; by the wonderment of "how". 'How' captivated her and catapulted her into the world of Puzzles. She enjoyed all matter of Puzzles and Logical Games. Anything from pencil onto paper, to jigsaw, Word Games, Tetris, Logic Games and beyond. Her first love though, were the mechanical, hold them in my hands, sometimes made of Wood or Iron; Physical Puzzles. Like these in this set, but bigger and more complex. You know, the coffee table and executive desk sort of puzzles. Those. Those freestanding little works of art are her very, very favorites to solve. She continues to get that tingle of anticipation when she comes across one. As she solves a new one that feeling of accomplishment is as strong as ever. If however, it turns out to be a true and new challenge; she gets excited at the very prospect of beating it. THAT, is why I've purchased this tried and true beginners set; of wire puzzles. You see, this a *Christmas gift for my beautiful and extremely smart; 8 yr old granddaughter. I'm thinking... that I'm giving her, not just a little box of metal squiggles... But, the whole World of Puzzles in its infinite entirety. Complete with positive emotions and intellectual logic that Puzzles teach and enforce unto us. *I will try to remember to update with her response to this gift of wonder. Unless of course she just tosses it aside in favor of a box of eyeshadows. 🙄 Then... Of course, I'd be too embarrassed to even re-look at this review. Let alone, needing or wanting to add a negative addendum to this already ridiculously long, surreptitiously windy review. The wire puzzles are strong and sturdy with a nice heft for their size. While this IS being gifted to my 8 yr old granddaughter, her DAD; my son-in-law will surely be "helping" her. He is a puzzle addict too =0)
