Good Choice
I was really surprised by this book. For how small it is, it covers more than I thought it would. It focuses on 5 areas. 1-Abu Dhabi and 4 areas/regions in Dubai. Detailed maps are provided for all (The fold out map is a bit awkward but there are also several mini maps throughout the book with marked numbers of the places/sites you are reading about. The "10" is on account of the frequent lists given throughout the guide in groups of 10. It is not overly detailed but gives you many options to consider visiting or seeing without having to wade through a lot of extrenuous information to get to the nitty-gritty and, typical of DK publications, they are not skimpy on the amount of color photographs (although it is a small guide book, made that way for ease of portability, so some of the photos will naturally be quite small). It is not going to have extensive detail on the history of Dubai or the UAE nor on all of the customs and traditions of the people. For those who will be visting Dubai for a long time, going there more than once, or consider relocating, this book along with Lonley Planet's "Dubai City Guide" and Culture Smart's "The essential guide to customs and culture of UAE" make a great trio.

Great guide for Dubai
We just got back from the UAE and this was a perfect guide for our stay. We actually want to go back since we didn’t get to do everything we wanted to do in four days.

These Top 10 books are my favorite travel books. To the point and small enough to slip in my purse, but still full of good info

Lots of pictures and maps
This is another great tour book from DK. As always lots of great pictures and lots of great maps. The book gives you an idea of what you can do in a day, two days, etc. It groups sights by proximity and also tells you if you should buy tickets on line for a particular site so you don't have to wait in line when you get there.

goood book
nice size for travel. has a lot of information. seemed thou that information repeated it self couple of times in different sections. Could be a little more condensed. there is some information missing.. like train. it is a new city so things change. they have the train to the Burj Khalifa tower. its very easy..train takes you to the Dubai mall and then long cat walk takes you to the huge shopping center and the tower is right there on the ground level. reserve the time for the observation deck because there is a schedule (every 30min or hour) for it to go up for the lowest price (about $30 a person if I remember right). if you want to go right away you will pay double. so reserve the ticket and go shopping, while waiting. there is an amazing fountain show outside at night..music and fountains..great show.really impressive!!! take a short walk outside by the little river around the tower after 6pm, when sun is down. if you want to go anywhere else you will need a taxi. I had a connecting flight, so the train to the mall and to see the tallest building in the world tour worked great to me.
