Fresh and Hot!
My Trader Joe's Ghost Pepper grinder had run out and I couldn't find any in stock, so Bhut Jolokia to the rescue. After carefully breaking them up, the whole jar of peppers fit perfectly into the grinder. Love it! Adds the heat that I crave in certain dishes.

These are the REAL deal, use extreme caution; good price, good flavor and SERIOUSLY SPICY
These "Whole Dried Ghost Pepper Pods (8 pods)" are the real deal; even though they are not "carolina reapers" (ranked as the hottest pepper), these ghost peppers are extremely spicy. Ghost peppers are rate at 800k-1mil Scoville Scale, while Jalapeno is only at 2.5k-8k, as comparison. So, beware when handling these, use gloves and goggles (better safe than sorry), and be sure not to rub your eyes or sensitive skins accidentally with these.I had a gourmet hot sauce making kit, and I used up their ghost peppers, so I used these for replenishment. These tasted similar, if not the same, as my other ones. They are smoky, and packing serious heat. I think probably due to the fact that these are dried, their sweetness is almost gone (as compare to fresh ghost peppers). The price is fine for 8 of these peppers, but some of the pods come cracked/broken and falling apart. Its fine for me as I am just using these to make hot sauces, yet, it may be an issue for people who are looking for or expecting whole peppers. By the way, these are product of Taiwan, and are packaged in Canada, according to the product label.Thank you for reading this review, I hoped that this review & the pictures are helpful to you in support of your purchase decision.

Wowee!
For a while, the Ghost Pepper held the Guinness distinction as the world's hottest pepper. Of course, this was a hybrid pepper developed in India specifically to reach super-hot standards. That meant other horticulturists could keep going with hybrids that would, and eventually did, surpass the Ghost. For a while there was a Scorpion variety that claimed the record and now the title is held by the Carolina Reaper. And at the moment I'm hearing there are other varieties up in that stratospheric range as well. At this end of the hotness scale, in other words, we're up there with law-enforcement-class pepper spray. These peppers can cause pain if you aren't careful. So, OK, if you're looking at this product, you probably understand all of that. I am giving this product 5 stars because it's a convenient container of this Ghost variety that I can keep in my spice cabinet and, yes, I've used it in cooking now. You definitely can feel the heat it generates, even with a little bit of it added to the dish. Be careful when you're cooking with these! What I think is fun about this product is the possibility of "gifting" this for someone you know who loves hot stuff. Clearly, you can't give it to them claiming it's the "world's hottest" anymore. Anyone who cares about hot stuff knows the Ghost has been surpassed.Nevertheless, the Ghost regularly pops up on TV cooking shows and it's well known for its heat. It could be a perfect little holiday gift for a friend who has everything, but may enjoy a little extra spice.

Very hot! We prep & cook these peppers in cautious manner.
These Whole dried Ghost Chili Peppers come in plastic bottle, with outer seal around the cap, and an inner seal. All 8 peppers came intact. They have a dry texture, and as I cut one chili pepper in smaller pieces, I ended with with many tiny, irregularly-shaped bits of the pepper.I used only a few bits of the pepper for each meal. These ghost chili peppers are HOT!I and most of our family members love spicy foods; but we took extreme care when it came to dealing with ghost chili peppers. Here are several precautions we took:--- when handling these peppers, we use gloves and glasses. The oils from these peppers can cause skin and eye irritations, of a mild-to-severe nature.--- use much less of these peppers as compared to other peppers (jalapano, serrano, habanero). We can always add more ghost pepper; but, once placed in a meal, it's impossible to remove the flavor if it becomes too hot to eat.--- When our meals become excessively hot, we drink milk to relieve the burn in our mouths.Expiration date is located on the bottom of the container. Mine expires June 15, 2023.Overall, these Bhut Jolokia-brand ghost chili peppers lived up to our expectations - very hot!

Great for Making Homemade Hot Sauce
Eat ghost peppers if you dare! I use these as the main ingredient in a homemade hot sauce. It needs to be diluted because it's just too spicy to be eaten as is. You get eight of these and I would advise wearing gloves when you handle them. You could feel the heat just by opening the jar - just one whiff and it's like, whoa! Great stuff for hot pepper fans.
