Arnold Marathon 14.5" Universal Replacement Wheelbarrow Wheel with Adapter Kit, Black

Our old wheelbarrow wheel was deflated with a puncture. I was going to throw the wheelbarrow out and buy a new one when I realized I could actually buy a replacement wheel. This wheel replacement was perfect! I was stumped at the beginning, as my wheelbarrow axle was much larger than this one! After reading that it could fit a 3/4” axle by removing the installed 5/8” one, I went online and found out how to hammer out the current 5/8” metal bushing to fit the axle and replace to with the provided 3/4” plastic bushing. Took just minutes to replace once I figured out what to do. And now I have my wheelbarrow back…

I regret trying to save just $5.00 more for a proper 4.80 4.00 8" at CTC.This tire is much narrower, so digs deeper into soft soil or snow. It is in fact only 14.25" in height. And that is a big deal because the original is 16". I had to install spacers because that relatively small difference was enough that the nose of the wheel barrow bottoms out often, and in order to preserve height I had to install spacers. Plus the smaller diameter along with being much narrower profile, the tire hangs up in holes and uneven ground way more often than you'd think compared to the original 4.80 4.00 8. Basically I consider this false advertising and regret the purchase. If it hadn't been an extra hassle to return it, I would have. I wish someone had reviewed this fake wheel barrow tire and it would have saved me. Consider these points if you think they're going to matter to you. An extra 5 bucks is nothing in this case.

This wheel assembly made fixing my ancient wheelbarrow so much easier than the last time, when I wrestled with replacing the inner tube. Fortunately this time, the tire itself was showing its age & I could justify replacing the whole wheel assembly. Everything went very smoothly, with the wheel slipping onto my 5/8 axle. I was pleased to have all the extra spacers included, as I ended up needing to use all of them.

I used this wheel to replace a broken wheel on my lawn tractor trailer. It seems sturdier than the original. The only think I wish this product came with an 3/4" steel bearing insert as well. The one pre installed is for a 1/2" diameter axle but my trailer has a 3/4" axle. There is a 3/4" bushing included which I used but it's only plastic (no bearings) so it will wear out very quick. I will have to buy a separate 3/4" axle bearing. Overall I am happy with the product.
