Mother earth perlite is naturally occurring siliceous rock that when heated to 1600 Degree F expands to 20 times its original volume. This kilning process is very similar to popping popcorn & produces a growing media that is sterile & has a neutral pH of 7.0 the exceptional physical properties of this perlite make it tops in the perlite world for adding porosity to soil & soilless mixes. This perlite has numerous hydroponic applications as well. The #4 is the largest perlite on the market & averages a whopping size of around 1". the #3 measures around 1/2" & the coarse is about 1/8 to 1/4".

if you want powder buy it
it's okay... there is more powder than rough perlite. it's hazardous to move around even gently due to the powder dust.

Made our clay soil lighter along with manure
Used it to create a huge flower garden, by mixing with manure and soil. Made the clay soil lighter.

Not coarse
It was not coarse perlites. The particles are very small.
