Enthralling.
I'm a huge fan of Abbi Glines . Glitter has been my very first Period read and I didn't want to put it down. I was hooked from the very first pages. As I read through the pages I could envisage my being present in their surroundings, watching on as the story unfolded. I see a movie in the making and I hope to get a front row seat. Well done Abbi. I look forward to reading more like Glitter in the future.

Great short story
I don't normally read historical books but I had to give this a go from one of my favourite authors. It did not disappoint. I loved the characters and really got into the story. I wish it was longer though and didn't end so quick.

an enjoyable historical, an entertaining read with a couple of surprises.
Glitter, Abbi GlinesReview from Jeannie Zelos book reviewsGenre: Romance,Historical Fiction, General Fiction (Adult)Oh this was fun, I've enjoyed several of Abbi's contemporary romances ( despite being way older than the characters...) so was keen to see how she'd handle this. And it was great, a fun read, little genteel drama, wonderful characters, and solidly set in the time period. Except for – biscuits. Abbi, we don't ever eat those biscuits for breakfast, now or then. What you call biscuits is closer to what we would call a scone and eat with butter and jam for tea. High tea or when visitors call back then of course. Biscuits and gravy for breakfast is not British, its US and every time I read it ( and it comes up multiple times) I felt it jarred.Anyway, other than that I really enjoyed this story, it had all the typical hallmarks of a historical romance. The traditions, the era, the shock when someone steps outside the norm. I think Miriam's aunt would have found it way more difficult to be accepted in society being a) American and b) ignoring so many of society's conventions. But for the book's purpose it was fine, worked well and I adored her. She was exactly what Miriam needed.Added to the romance was that issue of the brothers and their relationship. Then of course there's the whole reason Ashington was looking for a wife now in the first place. That made the book into more than a simple romance, into a story with some added depth and drama.I did feel the end was very abrupt, even with that lovely epilogue, and the brothers relationship seemed to have changed on a sixpence, went from one extreme to another in an instant. I'd have liked to understand more about Nathaniel's thinking and change of heart.Stars: Four, an enjoyable historical, an entertaining read with a couple of surprises.ARC supplied by Netgally and publishers

My new favourite historical? Maybe
Now i'ts been a minute since I've read a book by this author and every other book I've read from them have been contemporary, but that being said, they have rarely missed. Now to discover not only is this a historical, but a first person, duel POV historical? How could I not give it a try. And I'm really glad I did, Now historical romance isn't always my jam, but when it's good, like this is, it slaps. I was entertained and enchanted from page one and I'm a little bit in love with like 99% of these characters. A big but surprising win. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and Next Step PR for the opportunity to read and review an early copy. All opinions are my own.

Quick and Easy
Glitter is a regency romance, about penniless but beautiful Miriam and rich but aloof Lord Ashington.Although this is an entertaining, fluffy read, there was very little of the drama that it needed to really grip me. The ending was rushed and slightly unsatisfying, but some of the characters were real gems and helped to save it somewhat.A quick and easy read, this book is low impact but entertaining.I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Goodness, I did not know what to expect with a period love story from Abbi. But I loved it!
Goodness, I did not know what to expect with a period love story from Abbi. But I loved it!Miriam Bathurst is sent to live with her Aunt and Uncle in London to find a wealthy husband. Her father, who resented her, as her twin brother died within a few days of birth, is dead, leaving her bitter mother with debts. So, it is left to Miriam to find a rich husband to look after her mother and her beloved little sister. Her aunt and uncle are real characters too!Miriam’s first Ball goes very well indeed and she’s intrigued interest with quite a few suitors including the Earl of Ashington and his stepbrother Nicholas Compton, both men want her, but Nicholas’s need to start with is to avenge his brother.Emma is a small child living with the Earl of Ashington and he is on the look out for an ideal mother for her. She is a bright and spirited child. You will just have to read this to find out who her father is and who ends up being her mother.A fabulous read and I do hope for a sequel for the brother who missed out!I read this as an ARC for joandisalovebooks and this is my honest opinion.

Add a bit of Glitter ❤
Another fantastic read from Abbi Gines. First historical novel and never failed to disappoint, beautifully written and something different.Miriam is sent to London to find a husband, she does not want to marry but her goal is to give her sister a better life. The Earl of Ashington is wanting to find a wife for a very different reason and Miriam could be that person he never thought he wanted 😍 until his brother tries to use her for revenge but I don't think they are ready for the kind, caring & georgous Miriam.Hoping this is not the only book and there will be another to follow, any Abbi fans out there this is a must read ❤

Enjoyable read!!
Miriam is kind and charming and goes to London for the season to find a well-to-do husband, which is not something she really wants but know she must for her to care for her younger sibling. Hugh and Nathaniel are stepbrothers, and where one wants to marry, the other does not and will do what he must to sabotage the other’s quest. This is a good story with an in-depth plot, and is a sweet and enjoyable story with emotions, humor, and love, which leads to an entertaining page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend. This is the perfect read for all regency romance lovers.
