Best Avengers yet!
I am very pleased with this book. I have to admit that I was not sure whether to buy this book or not. I have read a few New Avengers books from back before the relauch after siege and I was never a fan of them. Also, my favourite comic character, Wolverine, was always in the team, but I never saw him do anything whatsoever. But anyway, since it was the relaunch I thought I'd try it to see if I liked it and Brian Michael Bendis has really turned things around. The plot is gripping. I was going to try and read it over the course of a few days, but I ended up not being able to put it down and reading it all in one go. The plot is a real non-stop intense ride. It starts with the first meeting of the New Avengers in Avengers mansion. All of a sudden and almost at the very beginning of the book, Avengers Mansion is attacked by a demon-possessed Doctor Strange. Almost immediately, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are also possessed. I can't say anymore because I don't want to give away anymore of the plot, but it really is a non-stop, extremely fast-paced, action-filled, epic plot. The artwork is great as well. And now I come tothe best part, which will make Wolverine fans glad. As I said earlier, I never saw Wolverine do anything in previuos New Avngers books. And now, after the relaunch, the team roster is pretty big with lots of different heroes, so I really wasn't expecting Wolverine, my favourite comic character, to do a lot. But, for the relaunch of the series, Brianc Michael Bendis seems to have moved Wolverine up to one of the most important characters. As everyone knows, Captain America made Luke Cage the leader of the New Avengers, and Luke Cage seems to have made Wolverine his right-hand man. Wolverine is also the first hero Luke Cage recruits for his Avengers. Also, Luke Cage, as I said earlier, spends almost all of the book possessed as a demon, so he hardly does anything except recruit the team at the beginning, so Wolverine sort-of acts as the leader of the New Avengers for this book, which is great because I (and I'm sure other Wolverine fans) have been waiting a long time for a story where Wolverine leads the Avengers. Warning: Don't read the rest of this paragraph if you don't like spoilers, but it is only a small spoiler. The end fight is also amazing. Near the end, the rest of the New Avengers have basically had the £$%& beaten out of them by an army of fiery demons from hell, fire is raining down on them from the sky, and Avengers mansion has pretty much been half-destroyed in the huge fight. This is when the leader of the demon army (and I will not tell you who that is as it is a surprise which I don't want to spoil) shows up and challenges Wolverine to a one-on-one battle for the fate of the universe, leading into the most exciting fight I have seen in an Avengers book (Wolverine versus the main bad guy while the rest of the New Avengers sit around getting beaten up by an army of demons is the best end to an Avengers book I could think of).

Watch out, Agamotto wants his eye back...( little Doc Strange gag there)
Although Bendis has a tendency to write comics sometimes as though he is writing a sitcom, he does turn out some mightily entertaining comics. This collection was great fun, with neither the characters or the readers able to catch their breath as the Avengers fight off an inter dimensional invasion by Agamotto, who wants his eye back ( Dr Strange fans will know all about this).Light in tone, some very funny dialogue, and a decent storyline all add up to a worthwhile read. The art, by Stuart Immonen, is also very good, conveying the frenetic pace really well.Recommend this one.

My favourite Avengers team
I am a long time New Avengers fan and wasn't quite sure how the new New Avengers would fare in the post-Siege world. Happily the team retained many of my favourite characters and the dynamic was as great as ever.I particularly liked the continuity as the story looked back to pre-Siege events with Dr. Strange, but also enjoyed watching the team, and Luke Cage in particular, figure out how to operate in the new regime.I've also read the first volumes of Avengers and Secret Avengers and, while I enjoyed those too, I can safely say that neither have the balance of action and laugh-out-loud whimsy that characterises the New Avengers and makes them my favourite Avengers team.

A solid start
New Avengers by Brian Michael Bendis Volume 1 collects issues #1-7 of Brian Micheal Bendis' second run on "New Avengers". The story is very indicative of Bendis' tademark fun and energetic take on comic books. It begins with Luke Cage buying a Avengers Mansion off of Tony Stark for a dollar, in exchange for putting together his own team of Avengers to inhabit it.The team consists mostly of popular characters including Luke Cage, his wife Jessica Jones, Spider-Man, Wolverine and the Thing. There's also Iron Fist, Doctor Strange, Ms. Marvel and others. In a book so full of popular characters, I was worried the book would become overly busy or crowded, or that certain characters would overshadow others.Thankfully, Bendis give each character their own distinctive character, personality and voice. Every character has a presence in this book. Spider-Man/Peter Parker in particular is a character who Bendis knows inside out, thanks to his infamous run on "Ultimate Spider-Man", and who steals the show here with his hilarious antics. The story itself centers around Space Phantoms (just roll with it!) from another reality entering 'our' dimension by possessing its resident superheroes, and our new team has to stop them. And from there, the book is just an explosion of activity. From a babysitting Spider-Man to a mystically-empowered Wolverine, so much has happens in this book that it whizzes by.My only concerns are that the book is often rushed and over-packed with story, that it really needed a bit more breathing space, plus, Doctor Strange is an unlikable character in this story, coming off as cold and unfeeling, which doesn't bode well for people reading about him for the first timeOther than that, the book is an accessible and fun introduction to the Avengers and their world, and I look forward to future volumes.

Excellent
Lovely charactisation, lightness of touch and a well constructed storyline.Immomen excells here. Deserving of the praise he has more than earned. This can be read stand alone or as part of the larger ongoing storyline that Marvel seem to have been carving for the Avengers and xmen.Well worth a look.

Accroché mais sans plus
J'ai voulu tenté autre chose sur les avengers mais cette équipe s'avère moins agréable que l'autre mais comme le dit Jackman Wolverine peut vraiment rejoindre les Avengers. Donc recommandation mitigé.
