Don’t let the word “mini” scare you, this is a very powerful, versatile, efficient little Air Fryer!
My kitchen gets so hot in the evening that running the oven/stove nightly for dinner was too much heat, so started the hunt for a small air fryer. It took over 2 months to decide since I didn’t want to spend $$$ not knowing how much use I would get out of it, and if it would work without blowing a circuit. It arrived on the 13th and has been used every day since. I wanted simple, and simple is what I got. Simple enough that straight out of the box, a first time user may never need to reference the ‘get started’ manual included. It’s a cinch to setup and the control panel is intuitive. The mini has a small footprint that is comparable in size to my 9 cup food processor, but weighs less. The stuff I really like: - It doesn’t take up much space on or under the counter. - Available in a variety of colors. Obviously, I love the arctic white color! - The design is aesthetically pleasing and adds a modern touch to the counter top. - It has a low electrical load capacity at 1300 watts that does not trip a 15 or 20A circuit in an old house. This has been a growing concern of mine with newer electronics. - Versatile? The “presets” are the default temperatures for your cooking options: air fry, roast, bake, and reheat. I pretty much use the air fry setting (changing the time & temp of course) for baked chicken (raw chicken w/ seasonings), vegetables, and pretty much everything else. To date, I have only used the ‘Bake’ function twice; once as a test for a plain chicken breast, and once for a baked potato wrapped in foil with both results consistent with my oven’s! - Food Capacity/Space? The 2 qt capacity has space to create large meal size portions for 1-2 people. The square footage of (6.5”x6.5”) is roomy enough to cook a wide range of foods. I don’t use precooked or frozen meats but market fresh. The “mini” can cook one lg chicken breast (w/without bone), 2-3 medium/small chicken breasts, 2-4 chicken thighs, 2 mahi mahi fillets, 1-2 pork chops, or 5 lamb chops (loin or T-bones) at one time as a single layer. Of course, your sizes/cuts can vary but these are what I have ‘air fried’ to date. You could possibly add more (depending on sizes) but remember to not restrict air flow. You can also cook in batches since cooking time is fast. For foods that can be “stacked” (ie veggies, tater tops, tenders etc) you can add a larger portion filling the basket. You can make garlic toast slices and even complete sandwiches (grilled cheese, meatball, and rubens etc). It’s a game changer when it comes to crisping up frozen processed foods: french fries, onion rings, taquitos, eggrolls etc. This rules!!! You can also fill the tray or liner for fresh veggies al dente, or make teriyaki or sweet & sour etc. Best part of all? I have used zero oil! - Odor control? It’s another way to cook bacon perfectly without the whole house smelling of it and minimal mess (results comparable to baking in the oven). The odor is dramatically reduced, but so is the quantity in the tray so you’ll need to cook in batches. - It has an automatic pre-heat function that takes ~ 2 minutes - Energy efficient? The 2 Qt Mini heats up and cooks significantly faster and more efficiently than larger volume baskets and the oven. The longest cooking time used has been 22 minutes at 390°. - Poor eyesight? The digital screen is easy to read with good white on black contrast - Not tech saavy? The dial control is analog & easy to use to set temp and time - Noise? The fan noise level is not overly loud or distracting. - Not watching the clock? It’ll ‘beep’ when ready for you to add food, turn food, and End - Quick cool down? Once basket is removed from unit, it cools down exceptionally fast. - Cleaning? It’s easier to clean. Both the basket & tray are removable and dishwasher safe, BUT the small size makes it easy to fit most small sinks to hand wash (my preferred method). In the event of stubborn or baked on food, I’d recommend using a soft bristle brush or even an old toothbrush to handle the residue on the grill & around the clips. - General maintenance? To avoid grease build up on your coil you should clean the area at least once monthly if not weekly (especially if you air fry bacon). It’s pretty easy to do and it will extend the life of your unit and it’s efficiency. Make sure it’s unplugged and cooled down. Remove the basket & tray, and turn the unit on its side or upside down. Use a damp sponge to wipe off any baked-on grease accumulated. - Compact & portable? Take it with you to save $$$ on food or to stay on a restricted diet. It’s not limited to your home, apartment, or dorm. You can take it into work for that long or overnight shift (it fits right under your cubicle or in your locker). It carries well on your business trip when trying to save $$$ on restaurants, or when car camping & road trips if you have a power inverter. Visiting family for the holidays? Bring it with. - Accessories? silicone inserts & parchment liners are available for this size model making it even easier to cook things like glazed pork, teriyaki, sweet & sour and other saucy or difficult to clean dishes. Plus it will save you on the wear & tear of the original “finish/coating”. - Price? The price was perfect for my budget! Best of all, I found it on Amazon Second Chance which has become my new best friend! Stuff I’m not too keen about: - The instant-connect app does not work for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 android version 9 - Does not contain a splatter shield to protect coil - Cooking with it is addictive! Overall, I am totally happy with my purchase, the size, quality, functions, and price. It’s perfect for adults and seniors, any person that is starting out, cooking for 1-2 people, is stove-less, has limited space, or just wants a small accessory that’s sleek, modern & functional. Durability is unknown at this time, but I’ll update should there be any changes. All in all, I am extremely pleased with my purchase 5-Stars!

Right-sized for an individual. Simple interface. Consistent results. Knob is a little iffy.
I purchased the Instant 2qt mini air fryer based on a recommendation from an organization that does reviews. I was late to get on the air fryer train, but I'm glad I did. If you don't need to air fry much and don't want to give up too much counter space, this is great. If you're preparing solo meals, this size mostly suffices. If you have a partner or kids, you may want something bigger or with two baskets. However, I picked this because it's all I needed AND the review said it cooks consistently. Apparently larger air fryers can produce more inconsistent results. Size: The basket is roughly 6.75 inches x 6.75 inches, with (just a guess) about 2 inches of comfortable space between the bottom tray and what I believe is the fill line. Would you want to fill it that full? Absolutely not. (If only the marketing materials weren't blatantly misrepresenting how much you can actually fit into this little guy. Or any air fryer.) One standard size block of tofu, cut into reasonably sized pieces, fills the bottom of the basket in a single layer. Does a good job at cooking two hash brown patties, or a single serving of tots. I've reheated single slices of pizza in it for a little bit of extra crispiness on leftovers. Tempura chicken works great, no surprises there. I have not yet achieved comfort with trying to air fry fries -- sometimes they get burnt, and I'm cautious to not cause too much layering. Sadly, I am only able to comfortably fit one piece of frozen breaded salmon in it, but it does a great job at crisping those up. The inner tray is held in place with some silicone "tabs" that offer less resistance if any oil gets applied or comes off of your food, but it has yet to accidentally fall out. Not too noisy. I don't have anything to compare to, but I am not bothered by this at all. Unlike many modern appliances, it is only capable of a simple beep; no songs! Joy! The user interface is simple. However, I suspect the different functions it has are only for show. At best, they control whether you have any predetermine preheat time, and maybe offer a memory for temp/time. As far as I know, the fan is always running, so you don't get to opt-out of air fryer mode. I am skeptical of the knob. Like some old/faulty volume knobs, sometimes "down" actually means "up" and vice versa, but it seems to MOSTLY work. That may be the annoying mode of failure for this device. I will keep an eye on it.

If you are looking for a perfect air fryer for 1 or 2 people this is it! Best wings ever! Salmon filets came out perfect. Eat healthy and oil-free. Easy clean up, even cooking, takes up almost no space on your counter and right now a super low price. Lastly it is made by the Instant Pot company so you have reliability! Buy it now. You will not be sorry!

Great little air fryer!
I'm reviewing the Instant Pot Vortex Mini 2 quart air fryer. Lol what a great little air fryer! Now, it really is small. It will fit a little individual 5-6 inch pizza and a 5 inch cake pan for instance. But I'm only cooking for myself so that's perfect. Roasted vegetables are perfect, chicken thighs are tender with a super crispy skin, the Reheat function is perfect for toasting a sandwich, and I simply love this little thing! The rack at the bottom: it's got a lifting ring that does not lay flat. I just turn it upside down and that gives a flat surface for cakes and such. Also important to clean it *before* running the Setup cycle as the user manual directs. After the Setup cycle, there has been no new-appliance smell. It's quiet, works wonderfully, is easy for my 64 year old brain to operate, and I love the black color. My appliances are black and this looks just great. It would probably be a great gift for someone else who cooks for just themselves or maybe for two. Very happy with this little air fryer!

Does the job, great for the price, has some drawbacks
Here's my breakdown: POSITIVES - Cooks well and evenly - Easy to clean the basket and tray inside, I removed the rubber edges because grime was building up and got tired of removing it and putting it back on to clean it - Small and compact - More quiet than other air fryers I've used, a gentle hummmm.., I've gone through 5 or 6 different brands and sizes by now - Small and compact, doesn't take up much space and is light so you can take it on roadtrips NEGATIVES - Preheat built into it, ~2 minutes, but the indicator doesn't show it's at preheat and it just blinks add food or temperature during this time. Didn't know until I realized it was taking ~2 minutes longer every time I used it so have to use my own timer to turn halfway through. - Beeps pressing each button is super loud and annoying. Turned it off but turning off the beeps turns off the beep when you have to turn which requires me to use a timer instead. - Turn time is about 2/3 of the way through, not halfway through like previous air fryers I've used. Overall good, if they fix the negatives above, would be a 5.

If my house were on fire, I would grab my pets and this air fryer.
If my house were on fire, I would grab my pets and this air fryer. And possibly some frozen cheese sticks. I'm a fan of the Instant Pot brand, and this air fryer is a classic example of why. It's super-easy to use, delivers consistent results, and cleaning it is a snap. Some warm sudsy water for the basket and grate. I bought a reconditioned one and didn't notice any difference, but if it ever breaks I'll buy another one at full price — it's well worth the money. This is a good model for the air-fryer-curious. Yes, the food tastes like it was friend in oil, without the mess of oil (or the health issues, if that's your thing — mostly I'm too lazy to clean up a mess after I deep-fry something).

Almost Perfect for a Single Person
I ordered this because I had been using a really large combo Instant Pot (family size) that my son let me borrow while he was out of country and loved how quick everything cooked, with less grease, the variety of uses was great. This one is just about perfect for a single person. I do like how it works so far, but there are a few little annoyances. If you really want to cook 1 chicken breast or 1 salmon or 1 steak (not a big one) then it's perfect, almost. But personally, sometimes I'd rather cook TWO chicken breasts so I could have leftovers for reheating later. The basket is too small for two (well, too small for the chicken breasts I get at the meat counter). Also, I don't think squeezing 2 chicken breasts in here would be a good idea because you're supposed to leave room for the air to circulate. In the photo is a different chicken breast that I usually buy, I thought I'd try this brand since they run a bit smaller, but these are also too big. I would only cook one of these at a time as well. It took a couple times to figure out how long to cook sweet potato fries! But that's what taking notes is for. Another thing I'm not a fan of is the little half circle metal thingy in the middle of the tray that's used to pick the tray up and set it back in. I think having just a hole there would be better. Cooking any piece of meat or salmon that is flat, doesn't sit flat. Not that it probably affects cooking, but it's just weird. I had a piece of salmon once that finished cooking with a bump in the middle. The tray, it has rubber bumpers on each side. You do have to press down on the tray to put it in and take it out. Seems like it's thick sturdy rubber, so it should hold up a while. And finally, there aren't any recipes specifically for this size. On their website the question was asked, and answered that we should refer to the regular air fryer recipes. But having a smaller basket, wouldn't that mean the cooking times would be different? I've had to play around and take notes to figure out cooking times. Not even in their manual did they offer suggested cooking times for anything, which would have been nice if they did. It does clean up really easily. It's not too large, and it doesn't take up tons of space. For the price and what it does, as long as it doesn't fail on me any time soon, I'm using it regularly and it's doable. I'm kind of on the fence about maybe buying a bigger one in the future, as there are so many more options for cooking with their multi-use pressure cooker/air fryer. **UPDATE: Has anyone ever left soapy water in the basket to let it soak? Have you had the water leak from the bottom of the basket? I can only figure the water was past the screw in the basket, and the screw was loose. So I kind of tightened it, it didn't really need it, but it still leaks. Am contacting the manufacturer. Just heads up, don't leave the basket full of water on your counter or you may have a mess to clean up. lol

Wrong voltage for UK
Why does Amazon continue to import these from US despite complaints about the plug being wrong. One cannot use an adaptor / transformer therefore it is of absolutely no use in the UK and the buyer has the hassle of having to return it.
