Brain Building in Just 12 Weeks: The World's Smartest Person Shows You How to Exercise Yourself Smarter . . .

Possibly life-changing.
Like another reviewer said, this could be a life-changing book. It encourages you to use all of your brain and to apply that new brain power to your life. Although some of the instructions for the exercises are a little confusing, I have found the exercises worth doing and am taking them seriously. As a matter of fact, I have a question for those of you who have read the book: Is the fourth number series exercise on page 105 (7 22 52 102 180) extra difficult or is it just me?

Inspiring and life changing
Marilyn just basically urges her readers to be more involved and present in their lives and the world around them. If you have been living a passive existence up to now then you should read this book and discover that knowledge is power! You will find that reading becomes more enjoyable and meaningful when you take steps to expand your vocabulary; making a game out of guessing the temperature makes going outside a little more fun; you can entertain yourself on the bus by thinking of all the ways wombats and kittens and different and similar; next time you read a mystery you can sharpen your intuition by guessing the ending based on clues and then finding out how close you were. Really though, buy this book and enlighten yourself. Your life will be better because of it.

Great Book
I first purchased this book when it was published in 1990. I read it and did most of the exercises. They have stayed with me over the years, and have been a great help to me at work and in my personal life. Alas, my copy has disappeared, as I've loaned it to many people over the last 24 years. I'm here today to buy another copy and refresh my memory and thinking skills. This is a book aimed at the general public. Vos Savant does an excellent job of presenting the material, and letting it affect her readers according to their personal stage of life, development, and experience. As with so many things, people will get out of it what they put into it. It is worth re-visiting for new perspectives and insights as we change during our lives.

Sadly not valuable
Marilyn had a high IQ when she was a child, and scored highly on a strange non-standardised test by a person who she lived near in New York.I'd guess that any graduate student from an above average university would see straight through many of her suggestions. These include not sleeping unless you're very tired.Really the content is awkward to read even with an open mind.

Got a few pages in and gave up
I don't think I had the brain power to carry on reading it. And also couldn't be bothered, there's better things to do with ones time.
