Bearing an Hourglass- Just a little bit dull
This is a well written book, with characters that somehow failed to capture my attention. I have read other books by the author that I loved, but this one is not my favorite. Worth a read? Definitely, but not my flavor.

The bomb
Best series I have ever read. Designing sweatshirts for our book club that revolves around these. It’s called trunk space... (if mortis has something in his trunk, what happens to it when he becomes a horse?)

Not bad, but not the first.
This book dose not disappoint when it comes to the part of explaining details on how Chronos, the incarnation of time, is explained in this universe. Working on the concepts of time and space working as one thing to eventually balk Satan. But what I just dis dived was the first an third acts of the book. Unlike On A Pale Horse, where you can fill in the time with finding the souls of the soon-to-be-dead and working that into the growth of Zane. But here it's the self governed growth with little to no interaction from the outside. Understanding that Chronos lives backwards, I could have seen a lot more interaction between him and the past that he would live in. It was a lost opportunity that the author didn't give Chronos more interaction with the world around him.Still a good read though, if a bit slow to get tithe fun parts.

Fun, but a product of time.
Received on time and as expected. Book is a classic. The whole series is fun, if you can get away from Piers Anthony's tendency to be creepy. In its time it was noted but ignored. Now, his attitudes toward women may be seen as pretty lecherous. Therefore, it may be offensive to this generation - that would be a shame. My suggestion is to take it with a grain of salt and see the good in this series. No matter what generation you are, you may freely ignore the 8th book which came out much later and has no excuses. 1-7 (this is 2) are still good reads.

Part Two of this Series
This book was part two of the series and as always he writes a very entertaining book that will hold your attention from start to finish, adding in a bit humor to the story with the use of surreal situations.

Time will fly when you pick up this novel
This is another installment in the series and if you have gotten to this novel than you must be hooked with the series. The interesting thing about all of the novels is how Anthony interconnects all of the characters. While some of the plot elements might seem to repeat themselves slightly, the character development and interaction is what kept me so interested as it was quite well done. Personally, I particularly enjoyed this book in the series as it dealt with a character who travels with an opposite time line than everyone else, making his interactions quite unique.

An mildly entertaining but inane follow-up
Not a strong follow-up to an exceptional series opener. Unlike On a Pale Horse, this book did not have a solid lead character or a witty interchange with the main antagonist. I had much higher expectations for this book, as the character of Chronos (Time) has so many possibilities for adventures through time, but the book only delivered a series of odd adventures through space. The beginning is dull, with an overlong backstory for the lead that does nothing to get the reader on his side. It takes roughly 20% of the book just to get into character, and even that moment fizzled into a bare sentence of taking hold of the Hourglass. From that point, the book bounces equally between silly and confusing episodes. It appears Piers Anthony got caught up in the Star Wars / Star Trek hype of 1983, as he devotes whole chapters to Chronos taking trips to "other planets". Although this is slightly cleared up near the end of the book, at the time the readers can't help but shake their heads and wonder why this book is relevant.By the end of the book, the final battle between Chonos and Satan is a yawner. There is no exciting exchange of ideas, no witty dialogue, and no grand release when the hero wins the day. It's more a relief that the story is over. For a book with such promise, it's saddening that the most interesting character is the ring.

Klischees ohne Ende

Nicht so gut wie Buch eins - On A Pale Horse
