Insightful Introduction, Excellent Translation.
The wisdom is timeless. The author builds trust in his translations by explaining his reasons behind them in a digestible way to the lay person.

Excellent book
The book is called Hermetica. It's by Walter Scott and is several hundred pages. You can get it at Barnes&Noble, or get it the way I got it from. The book contains the ancient philosophic writings of Hermes Trismegistus, which was brought up out of Egypt by the Moors. Get the movie Highlander. Your boy Sean Connery is in it. Him and this group of immortals are fighting, and they go back in time to save their tribe in Ireland. The story is basically the Isis and Osirus myth as found in the Hermetica.

Expectional
I get lost in time reading this. This book came out in 1912 and still accurate. Who needs modern dating advice when you simply can read about the Gnostic text about the true path of Man. ;)

Must read great book
This book is deffently hermetic. Love how Scott translation too English, was beautiful really grab the essence out of original text. I've read 4 version of the Hermetica and will say that it is not word for word but was translated by a very great writer, blown away with some of the chapters. But good and bad news the original is all their but in Greek and Latin lol...were lucky to have this book because the time and education it takes to write don't forget talent of his skill, perfect translation just it's not word for word because it's modern version for better understanding and still grabs the image and essence! true to its core...

This book details the thinking of God and gods, ...
This book details the thinking of God and gods, the Kosmos, morality etc. of the ancient Greeks through the mind and philosophy of the god Hermes. I found it interesting how much the Hebrews influenced their thinking of a almighty God and how the writer integrated their beliefs with the pagan ones. And how this combination of religious thought influenced the Christianity of today. I also found Hermes description of the demise of Egypt and its religion and culture profound. how he blamed the new comers to the land that would not abide by the natives beliefs and that it reached a point when there were no actual Egyptian left in the country which is the theme and demise of many lost civilizations I've read about.
