Speedy and Easy Cooking
First off I have recently bought 2 of these - why you ask? Well, I always like to have a "spare" as when the bulb burns out that's it your cooker is effectively useless as I have never found replacement bulbs on sale for one and looking on the underside of the lid where the cooking "element" lives ther eis no way to actually access it to replace the bulb anyway. With the new phasing out of the halogen bulbs being announced this model is soon going to be obsolete and I love the cooking I get from this style of cooker so decided to get a second as my old one had just bitten the dust so I would no longer have a spare. These are great for joints of meat and for grilling meats such as sausages or burgers. Word of warning though they are QUICK. For instance a chicken that calls for 1hour and 40 minutes of cooking will take a flat hour in this beast. When your cooking times start to increase you know that your bulb is reaching the end of it's life.To be entirely honest when I plugged my new one in I had forgotten how bright a new bulb is - never even crossed my mind that the bulb would dim as it aged but it certainly does. It comes with a low and a tall rack and 2 mesh trays. The expansion ring is a must have for cooking larger joints of meat and we can usually cook a large turkey crown in ours by using the expansion ring.Cleaning is simple - the racks and mesh baskets are all made from stainless steel to a quick soak and scrub with a steel wool pad and they come up nice and clean. The glass bowl is weighty as it is very thick sided to withstand the heat. There is a "clean" option you can use on the unit itself but I find it as easy to scrape any residue of grease or fat from the unit and then wash it in the sink in hot soapy water. You can only wipe the lid down so it does start to discolour as time goes on but I figure the heat will kill anything that tries to take root on it.Makes cooking fast and easy and because it is fashioned from glass you can see how your joint, burgers, etc. are doing without having to open it and loose heat.Definitely recommend getting one of these before they are retired out due to the use of the halogen bulb.

More than just a frier !
So first and foremost the pictures dont really do the size of this thing justice, it is 19 litres which is 2 whole freezer bags of chips on 2 trays if that helps put it in perspective !.I was not really sold on the idea of air frying (Scottish) however my wife insisted we got one of these and when it came up on special offer we decided to get one. I have to say I am now its biggest fan and its got pride of place where our greasy traditional friar once stood which has since been retrired !.Once you get the thing unboxed and put together which literally takes a few minutes, its marvelously simple, one dial for temperature and one for time. It comes complete with 2 smaller trays however its the same size as a standard small pizza tray internally which means your able to source replacement trays pretty easily. It comes with a handly little bottle to stick your cooking oil in to give things a quick spray of oil for extra crispness. Our first adventure with this was just chips to see how it went and we decided to use the 2 types that never quite come our right in the oven(Sweet Potato and Curley Fries). 25 minutes later (From Frozen) I was absolutely bowled over by the perfectly cooked chips which were crisp on the outside, perfectly cooked all the way through and we sat them on a paper towel and surprisingly enough they had very little oil coming off, barely a blotch patch for the entire 2 loads. The frier comes with a recipe book which we tried a couple of the recipes from over the weekend and I have to say that this is a real game changer here at home. We can prepare a meal in the morning and put the large glass bowl into the fridge during the day. Take it out when we come home from work and fire it up in minutes to have perfectly prepared food ranging so far from mediteranian veg to a small casserole.According to the manual you can cook a pizza in here as well however it would need to be slightly smaller than supermarket standard size unless you half it up front and use the 2 layers however really I think its strength in our house is going to be ease. We are a family of 4 and meal prep time is hard to come by and with a 2 layer standard oven and a mix of vegetarian / vegan and large scottish dad its always a nightmare trying not to mix meat or meat smells with food for the other groups.Cleaning the thing was as easy as cleaning any standard glass dish, we let it cool down, popped it in the sink with some fairy and a few minutes later it emerged with barely a wipe ready to be used again. The trays were not to hard to wash either. To conclude for a couple this is perfect and easier to clean than the oven, it will do the same job.For a family it will compliment the existing cooking making light work of the side dishes and it does not smell anywhere near as bad as the traditional frier. For a single man this is the best thing since the pot noodle !In short given the price of this thing I expected garbage however it is absolutely brilliant and do not hesitate !

Could do better but pretty good
I bought this to mitigate rising energy costs. Not so good bits are it's a very large device, taking up almost the same area as a Cooker top when you factor in placement of the lid. It's tall and could be an issue with cupboard doors catching on it when you open them. This might be more of an issue when the extender ring is used. Having seen other halogen air fryers this problem is likely universal no matter what make you buy.The price is about right but I found another almost identical one that was cheaper and has the self-wash facility. Size-wise, it's possible to cram a small chicken, roasties etc in to this without the extender ring but its certainly much easier using the ring.I have burned my arm when turning or removing food. There are tongs which may prevent this but I can't use them. They can be used for lifting the shelf or mesh tray but are very flimsy and they don't seem to latch on to them very well so I just use oven gloves. It may be that mine are faulty as others I've spoken to find they work perfectly.I'm 5'6" and I'd guess that getting the odd burn would be more of an issue the shorter you are. The answer may be to wear long sleeves? The lid is a bit of a problem. It contains the heating halogen light so it becomes extremely hot. The stand is a freestanding wire affair which tends to slide around when you try to insert the lid. The first few attempts were hit and miss. I'd recommend practicing when the lid is cold and finding somewhere to wedge the stand so you know what you're doing when dealing with this cumbersome lid.I'm not an enthusiastic cook but I am quite enjoying using this despite some of the issues. The food comes out quite light and fluffy with a slight crispness. It cooks a little faster than in a conventional gas oven and probably a lot faster than an electric oven. I like that I'm able to see the food cooking and that I'm not bending down as I would be with my gas oven.It comes with a low metal cooking shelf, a raised shelf and two mesh baskets. These work fine together or separately. If you have round trays, you can use these too but I'd guess you might impede air flow and change the way things cook. I used a tray under some fatty meat to catch the drips and save mess in the bottom of the bowl. The meat came out very tasty but I did manage to slightly overcook it.The glass bowl is easy to wash, just like washing a large heavy mixing bowl. I suspect if it's dropped it will probably break. The lid can't be submerged to wash and I cleaned it using a damp slightly soapy sponge. It turns out there is a self-wash setting but I've only just discovered it so haven't tried it out yet. This was for me a very different way of cooking and it's taken a few days to get used to it. Persevere and you'll come to enjoy the process and love the flavour of the food you cook. I feel it's now really easy and I'm hopeful that it will save me a bit of money!

I purchased this so that I could still cook good meals from scratch
I purchased this as I am currently having a full kitchen renovation (supporting wall knocked out between dining room/kitchen, walls back to brick, ceiling replaced, re-plastering, floor re-done), whilst living in the house. (This started in mid April and is still on-going).As the old kitchen units, hob and oven needed to be removed, I purchased this so that I could still cook good meals from scratch, with the intent of not having to buy dozens of microwaved meals, ordering lots of takeaways or going out for tea (as the works would take a few months to complete) and need to save a much money back as we need to buy the kitchen.I have to say that having this halogen oven a god send! I love to cook, especially home cooked from recipes. This has helped me to get through the kitchen makeover and although we still have the odd takeaway or go out for our tea (as the other part of the house is literally covered in dust), this is helping us to still have good meals without feeling cut off from not having a fully functional kitchen. Some of the things I've cooked to date:Full english breakfast (sausage, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried eggs)chicken fajitaslasagnapizzacheese on toaststeakchipsroast potatoespotato wedgesThe oven is really easy to use. It has two dials on the front (timer and temperature). It also has two different lights too so that you know when the timer is on and when the halogen light comes on. It comes with two mesh plates, two racks at different heights, some tongs and an extendable ring. The ring is really usefully to use if you are cooking several items in the oven but don't want to have them too close to the filament light (otherwise they might scorch quicker). The ring can be stored around the outside of the pyrex bowl too (and is also delivered in the box this way). Tongs are good too (noticed that some other makes of these ovens do not provide these). The tongs extend quite wide to assist you lifting out the racks. When cooking, the filament light will periodically go on and off to get to the desired temperature and retain it. When timer has ended, the oven will sound a 'ping' (a bit similar to a steamer if you have one).Cleaning this is also very straightforward, using soapy water for the bowl and a damp cloth for the lid. You could clean this after every use if you wanted, but if you are careful enough when cooking each time not to mess the inside of the bowl up, you could clean it after a couple of uses. Much easier than a normal oven.My only comment would be that it does take a little getting used to how much quicker/differently food cooks in this but this is because the heat comes from the top (similar to a grill). However, the fan helps to distribute the heat all around. My husband and I have found that meat is especially more tender/juicier when cooked in this.
