Great NAS
Only had it for a week, but so far so good. Very nice looking unit, and very easy to install the HDD's into.Good easy to follow interface, once you get your head around it, but you do need to download and install the Asustor Control Centre which then takes you to a web interface when you click on your unit.Initialisation seemed to get done almost too quickly, but then I noticed that the 2nd HDD took some time to mirror the fist one - had set it up as RAID1.Once done, all seemed straightforward, although instructions are a bit lacking in how to create shares (folders). One of the greatest benefits to me so far are the speed with which I can transfer files (even only using 1GBe), and the fact that it uses SMB v3 so Windows 10 doesn't keep not finding it (my previous NAS was only SMB v1.

Lovely Media Server
We had an WD MyBook Live 3TB for the last 10 years. It has reached the end of life and it was time for something more current and updated. It was a really decent choice. We are really happy with this choice. We opted to add Plex as a Media Server and and this is an awesome piece of kit. The Plex software is a truly awesome app. Its easy to set up and manage with me on Win 10 and my other half on a Mac. We look forward to having this for the next decade or so.

Very solid NAS box
I bought this to replace an ageing Netgear NV+ which was starting to be hard to maintain.I had previously tried a Synology box but didn't like the interface, this Asus however is perfect! I bought two 4Tb drives and set them up in RAID mode so they are mirrors of each other, this give me 4Tb of storage secure in the knowledge that if one drive dies the data is still on the other. I also use the onboard app for "iDrive" to back the whole box up to the iDrives cloud service it does this every night while I sleep and has proven totally reliable. I have 2.6Tb of data on the box and the initial upload to iDrive did take 5 days but the daily updates since then usually take about an hour.I have set up the media server and can stream content to my smart TV's other than that I just run it as network storage (I store nothing on my PC at all) it's fast it's reliable I wholeheartedly recommend this unit.

Really pleased with my new NAS box
I bought this to replace an old Proliant nas, quite easy to set up loads of apps to install I'm very impressed how well this streams media to my mobile devices. So far I have only added a new 4tb Ironwolf nas drive which is a bit noisy but it's not that bad and it's not a problem with the nas it's the actual hard disc. I'm very happy with my purchase as it has so many features that my old NAS didn't have.If you're looking for a really good NAS box that works brilliantly get one of these.

Asustor 2bay Nas drive
Purchased this with 2x Seagate 4tb drives. The Asustor Nas drive is really good and has a good selection of apps that can be used. Quite running and easy to set up and is a great replacement for my old Western Digital drive that gave up the ghost. Well worth the money!

Disappointing
I would save your money and get the next model up. This one is fine for direct streams locally but anything remote seems to struggle for one reason or another.I consider myself to be somewhat literate with these things. My upload is fast, relay is off, Plex pass user, direct streaming H.264 1080p to remote TVs just doesn't work consistently when it did previously using my desktop so it must just be an issue of hardware?I have tried diagnosing the networks, poured over logs, deleted codecs folder, turned off burn in subtitles, forced only direct play so no transcoding, and so on..Also there is no hardware transcoding support on this model. I misread the Amazon listing it seems.

Better than I expected
What a little beauty for the money! It arrived earlier today and took me only 30 mins to set up. That included installing 4 hard drives (Seagate Ironwolf 4TB), updating its operating system, setting up an admin account, configuring a RAID 5 and configuring SMB3 :) From that point it was a usable NAS albeit it will take quite a few hours to finish setting up its EXT 4 file system. You don't need to wait for that though as you can start backing up to it straight away. I'm currently getting 160+MB/s transfer over 2.5G network despite the fact that it is busy doing other stuff.Obvously it can do a lot more than just being a local NAS, but that's what I initially bought it for and is more than up to that job.FWIW: it is also quieter than I expected; no noticeable fan noise and just a very gentle rattle of the drives whilst writing/accessing data. You wouldn't notice if you were using it to stream music/video and most of the time otherwise it would be sitting there silently as backups are usually done when I am in bed.

Useless backup
This suppose to be use as data backup. It crashed one day with system error. Volume was not accessible. Even that discs were fine there was no option to access data other than to use premium data recovery software. This means if your NAS fails you have to buy another NAS to recover data if you're lucky. If you not you have to pay for data recovery. Absolute mess. Not very easy to use requires a lot of time for initial setup.

Great entry level NAS
Great entry level NAS. This is my first home NAS system, and it has great documentation, and was easier to set up than I was expecting. While there is a bit of a learning curve in my case, since this was my first NAS, and still had it up and running in one day, with ongoing fine tuning and configuring over the next few days. Works great, and enjoy the user interface and App Store. Definitely enjoy having my own in home cloud storage. Also love the MyArchive feature. I ordered 2 more disk trays, so I can hot swap disks in Bay 4 with extra disks I had. Love this flexible feature that allows you to archive more data, than if you only had 4 static bays. I definitely would recommend this product to friends.

The NAS just works!
I bought this platform to replace a NAS product I have had for 6 years. I bought 4 4TB SSD drives to put into the chassis. Installation of the drives was super simple, you don't even need a screw driver. Pop the drive chassis out of the device, pop the plastic end pieces off, insert the drive and re-insert the plastic pieces. Very clever and very easy installation. The device user experience is very easy. It feels like a remote desk top. Where you have file manager, drive management, App Store, etc. I found the user experience to be very easy and the configuration process to be simple. I enabled the drive share support for both windows and Mac.I downloaded the Plex and Security application. The Plex server is extremely nice, I stream my DVD collection from the drive. It transcodes the video streams to high resolution screens like my 84" Samsung down to the phone. The drive also connects to my HDHomeRun tuner for OTA DVR functionality. The system works flawlessly.
