Great design and quality
Fits my 2012 Specialized Roubaix perfectly. Turn your high performance carbon fiber road bike into a commuter! Yes...despite what the "carbon fiber crew" will tell you, your carbon bike is VERY strong! It just does not have good "crush" resistant properties. This rack attaches to your rear hub and to where your calipers attach -- two of the strongest areas on our bike. So it is secure and safe. This rack is designed for racing/raoad bikes. There is little tire clearance for more than standard road tires. The tires on my bike are 700-28, so you can guess how tight the clearance is. Also please note that there is no "platform" on the top to place a trunk or equivalent. This is a pannier bag rack. A platform would have been more useful perhaps? I mean, how aerodynamic can a rack be?In fact -- there is so little clearance for the tire, I had to stop by ACE hardware and pick up two shorter button-screws -- the ones provided in the kit are too long and would hit the tire. We are talking 78 cents here. But despite these minor issues, this rack has Impressive quality, nifty design and a very good price! As you can tell I am quite impressed.CORRECTION: I just took off the cardboard which was attached to the rack for shipping. Underneath in a bag attached to the rack I found bolts of varying sizes. So, there was no need to visit the hardware store for a shorter bolt!

This rack is a good option if you're trying to convert a racing bike ...
This rack is a good option if you're trying to convert a racing bike to a commuter bike. The setbacks ensure that you won't have any heel strike. I installed it on a Felt F85 which has a very aggressive frame geometry and it works well both in terms of clearance and heal strike. I have Planet Bike strap-on fenders under it, and initially I installed it as recommended. While there was just barely enough clearance to fit the fenders, I found that the fenders required frequent readjustment in order to not rub against the tires. I made some modifications to the installation that gave me much more clearance, though, and now I have plenty of room for my fenders. Modifications for more clearance (see photo): 1. Install the flat stock that connects to your brake assembly over the mounting holes, not under. 2. Use only the forward mounting bolt instead of both, and 3. install some washers on the top side of the rack so that the top bolt just barely makes it to the bottom of the nylon-insert locknut. You'll really want to wrench this bolt down, since it will be doing the job of two bolts. If you're in the same position that I am and you are OK with the installation compromises I made, I would recommend it. In this configuration, I wouldn't put a touring load on the rack, but it works very well for my commuting needs.

and so far have pretty mixed feelings
I've been using this rack for about a month, and so far have pretty mixed feelings. I like the narrow design of the rack, as I just want something to clip on to and don't need a lot of surface area in the back. Riding a bike without mounting points on top, I needed something that would hook behind the brake like this as well.I do have mounting points above my rear axle, but the rack instructions online recommended just mounting through the rear axle of the wheel so I initially did that. However, this puts the rack dangerously close to the tire. The nuts securing the flat metal piece on top were maybe a centimeter or less from the tire. Wheel sizes are standard, so I'm a little confused as to why they would design this rack to sit so close to the tire, as other reviews here have mentioned. Granted, it shouldn't budge while moving, but it's still pretty scary. Over the course of using the rack with a ~15 lb bag every day, the rack sort of 'settled down' another few mm (because remember, the bottom mounting points are on this extension, meaning they can 'roll back' causing the rack to drop down). Now I had maybe 4mm of clearance from the nut to the tire, which left me super uncomfortable.I recently remounted the rack to use my rear-fork eyelets instead of the wheel axle, which propped everything up 2-3 inches and now I have ample room. I did have to force the rack to fit into that mounting point, as it is a little narrower than using the axle mount, but it seems secure and I don't think will cause future problems. This also caused me to adjust the flat metal piece that secures to the brake, and this introduced yet another problem. This metal piece slides right underneath the top of the rack (down the middle of the spine, so to speak). Well, I had to slide the piece back a bit more than I had before so it went up to the first metal cross piece (maybe 'ladder rung' makes more sense, if looking down at the rack?). My bag could no longer clip on, because the clip was blocked by the metal piece and I didn't have enough length on the rack to shift over a segment. I then had to push that metal piece back so I had enough room for a clip.I'm going to continue using the rack, as once you have it set up it works great, but there could be some serious design improvement here. If they want to advertise mounting to the rear axle, this rack should be 2 inches taller than it is. Also, the metal bar on top shouldn't inhibit from clipping in. Either set it lower down, make it narrower, make it shorter, etc. but it vastly reduces the amount of clippable real-estate you have on the rack.

Perfect for road bikes
I'm so happy that Axiom makes a rack that is designed for road bikes, and well-priced too. This has been a life changing piece of gear for me, allowing me to commute and shop on my fast road bike while carrying as much or as little as I'd like. I also bought the large pannier bags from Axiom, which are a good pairing. I've hauled some pretty hefty loads with this rack and pannier setup, it is quite impressive. Of course you have to hold on to the bike carefully if you load it down in back, as it will flip over backwards from the load imbalance. Highly recommended.

Sleek, and reasonably priced
I fitted this myself relatively easily. It feels very study and I have used it with two full panniers on a long cycle no problems. The downside is obviously that you have less space on the top of the rack, but it is much more aesthetically pleasing than other racks and I do not miss this extra space.

If you don’t know which one, this is the one
I bought this once to my bike but it was stolen. For my new bike I tried another one, but had to come back to this as this is the only one that fits perfectly for every bike. Won’t try another one again.

I recommend this not just for a carbon bike, also for a ally frame.

Great!
A very good choice for touring with a road bike. The tongue that comes with it, that attaches to the rear brake mount may require to be bent slightly to fit. Use a vice, and bend at its strongest point, where the metal does not split into two.
