As a Reading Specialists depending on the grade I am working with the illustrations are as important to capture the student interest as is the text. They are vibrant and colorful, very detailed. One lesson I used for the Kindergarten was for them to look at the pages and explain to me what it is they saw and used their own insight as to what the story was about. Once I read this fable, we then compared it to what they thought and they explained to me how the illustrations helped them with their thoughts. A great book to share with readers.

I had seen some of Kelly Vivanco's art in a gallery in Southern California and ended up buying a few prints of her work. When I saw that she had helped do the drawing for this book, I had to get it. I have actually taken a few of the pictures out and framed them. I keep one on my desk at work. She is really very talented. The story, of course, is a classic. I think this would be a great purchase for little girls. The illustration by Kelly is just beautiful.

Gorgeous illustrations that come to life on the page and evoke a sense of Old German nostalgia. This is the original Grimm's fairy tale, which I love. This storybook stays true to the original text while still being appropriate for children. Everyone should purchase this!

A beauty of a book. The pictures transport you to storyland. Story simply told with a happy ending. All of her books are full of art. The 5 yo I got it for had to share it at show & tell. The bad elf is disposed of by a right thinking bear. You don't see it but you get the point. This is a good over evil story.
