for some people might not be as good for pencil compared to toehr ones
This has to be the coolest sketchbook ive ever bought, for some people might not be as good for pencil compared to other ones, but the feel of the cover feels so good in my hand, Also 8 x 6 size is perfect, the pages are white, this has to be the best sketchbook i had used for inks, with my fountain pen, ink doest go tru the page.I dont think it can handle some markers or watercolors with no protection on back, but for pen sketching and regular pencil its great to carry around, im glad i bought 6 of thm to have free shipping, also the tiny one its good to have it in a pocket, the size anint that big because of his 4 inches, but i love them.

I'm a Creative Director, and I am very retentive about the perfect binding, and the pages and the size and the feel of the paper. This book is awesome. Perfect size, lovely color palette to choose from for the cover, quality paper stock on cover and inside (both different, and should be). and blank artist pages with a perfect binding that is flexible and giving, which is rare. A great artists journal. Enjoy!!

Not unhappy with it but probably a one-time purchase
TL;DR middle of the road paper, adequate for many tasks, ideal for few. Inexpensive, recycled. Would recommend for casual use, students. For pencils or other solid media a more textured paper would be desirable. For ink work or markers, denser and smoother pages would be ideal. And for paints (watercolor or gouache), thicker and heavier weight pages, and something that is sized and has some cotton content would be best. That said, I have used graphite (hard and soft), charcoal, drawing ink, gel ink, fountain pen ink, ink washes, water color washes, and gouache in this book, and it is basically OK in all cases. And since it's recycled paper, and the book is inexpensive, I'd have to say it's better than expected. The best use in my opinion is light ink sketching. The pages are thick enough to take heavy inking on both sides without trouble. I will say that using a sharp nib isn't great, the recycled paper is pretty soft (not as in an extra fine fountain pen or a super fine roller ball, but a steel nib such as a crow quill or G nib).Watercolor and ink washes do cause the pages to buckle some but I have used it that way and it's not too bad if the washes aren't to heavy. Multiple washes do not work well at all.Personally I don't mind a weathered feel in my sketchbooks... in fact I rather think that adds to their aesthetic in a Wabi-Sabi sort of way; I want it to look worked in.The only other complaint is that it doesn't lay flat at all, you can force it and use spring clips to hold it open.So it's fine as an economical sketch book but I'll be in the market for a different book when I use this one up. I will however use it until the last page, as it's not a bad sketchbook.

A good moleskine alternative
I used to love Moleskines, then they got horrendously expensive, and I've turned to buying bargain bin sketch/notepads in the past couple of years. I was looking for something a bit more sturdy and this turned up and it fits the bill; sturdy cover, clean, abundant pages. I'm not a proper illustrator so I can't comment too thoroughly on the quality of paper, but I can say they are definitely not flimsy and thin.

The best companion!
It feels good in your hands, the pages are substantial and smooth, it's a true pleasure to use and it lasts and lasts!

NOT AS DESCRIBED!
The item described in this listing is my favorite journal. I have went through many of them. So, when I got a similar but DIFFERENT journal after ordering from Amazon, I knew it right away. Here are the differences:The journal I received has 60 lb paper, not 74 lb.The paper is CREAM instead of white. The ribbon is navy blue instead of orange. There is stitching detail around the edges of the cover, and notches to hold the elastic in place. The edges of the paper are not rounded.Basicly, I received this journal :[...]Instead of this one:[...]It's still an okay journal.... but if you're particular, know that this listing has false advertising! Personally, I dislike the thinner, cream colored paper, and think that the actual item that this listing advertises is better quality and more visually appealing than the one that they give you.

Cover is lovely, but the paper leaves a lot to be desired
This came in excellent condition, the cover is soft and wonderful with a big inside pocket and elastic wrap band to keep the pages flat. I was disappointed, however, in the kind of paper that was inside. The pages are so white they are almost bluish, and kind of slick like printer/copier paper. I was hoping the pages would be at least a little toothy so they could handle some layers of media. This would be fine for maybe some gentle pencil sketches, but I like to use a lot of mixed media, charcoals, colored pencil and inks, and the paper is just not up to the task.
