Pros and cons but overall a good product.
We have an African Gray Parrot who absolutely loves toys and loves peanuts so I really thought this Creative Foraging Toy Feeder Bird Intelligence Growth Cage Acrylic Box Toys by KinTor would be a fun product to try for her. I was surprised how large this toy was, with multiple openings of different sizes and shapes. Its made of thick durable acrylic material so I know her big beak is not going to snap it apart easily which is nice. However, because it is cut acrylic it is also quite a bit sharp around all the edges, which worried me that she may get cut on her foot or face but no problems yet so that's great. It comes with a brown protective covering on it which you need to remove, which was a bit hard, but doable. It hangs by a metal material so its quite durable. My biggest issue with this product is the fact that it has no easy open latch for filling. Yes you can get a screwdriver and take both the sides off and pop off the top, but it is a hassle. I prefer just to fill by pushing peanuts through the holes. You don't have to fill all the way either like the picture. At first my bird didn't want anything to do with it, but then I came home one day and she had gotten all the peanuts. So though there are a few things I don't like about it, its durable and works exactly how it should, so its a hit!~Thanx~

Excellent for Staving-off Bird Boredom!
As you may know, boredom is a real danger to parrots as they can begin to remove their own feathers, or get involved with other troublesome activities as a result of inactivity during the long hours while you're away. Consequently, it's always a good idea to rotate new, stimulating toys into their environment that engage them in solving puzzles and thought-provoking problems. My African Grey loves this box! She'll spend perhaps a half-hour pushing and pulling on it to get it into a position to access the treats inside. On more than one occasion, she has been hanging from a toy while playing, and had the toy detach; forcing her to fall to the cage floor. However, this box is built of quality, thick plastic, and reinforced at a traditional weak point (the chain attachment) to reduce the chance of the toy detaching from the chain. You can remove the top of the box by loosening a couple of screws, then place a semi large piece of fruit so they can work hard to get to it, or you may also simply shove peanuts, corn or whatever other small treats your bird fancies though the holes in the sides of the box. This is a great toy/feeder and I highly recommend!

Not for large parrots
Bought this for my Macaw. Its hung by a very thin cable & weak clips that my bird broke within the first day of having it. I rigged it back up with a more durable chain & some small climbing clips that i had in order for the purchase not to be a complete waste. It also doesn't invite foraging as the holes are so large- very easy to get whatever is put in there out. The item doesn't his ooen to place nuts & other food items in, you put through tge oversized holes which is a poor design. This might work fine for a little parakeet or conure but definitely don't waste your money if your bird is larger than that.

Usable, with one simple modification
I have used the large size with an African Grey for well over a year and it has held up. With all the reviews reporting destruction by birds, obviously not a good toy for large or super destructive natured birds. And there's also an obvious issue with quality control, since some users say it just fell apart at the seams.I guess I was lucky and got a good one. A concern I have had is worrying that the hard plastic edges might damage my Grey's beak when he's digging inside for treats, but that hasn't been an issue in a year's use.Another thing I don't like is the holes at the very bottom are too small to forage through, so if there are snacks or other items lying at the bottom, they can't be reached. This seems like it would be frustrating for the bird. So I cut a piece of 2" PVC pipe to put in the bottom to keep peanuts or whatever placed inside to a reachable level. Works pretty good. (See photo)The larger holes are perfect for peanuts. That's about the only non-perishable snack I've found that won't fall out easily, but can be retrieved by my AG. But recently I read that peanuts have a higher risk of having mold that can be fatal to birds (Google "Parrot Aflatoxins"). Although reportedly a rare situation in the US, I've been looking for alternatives. Smaller snacks such as seeds or pistachios just fall out immediately, unless you use some kind of bedding or other material to help support them. I'm currently experimenting with shredded paper bedding to hide smaller snacks in. This kinda works, but not perfectly or super convenient to layer in (See photo). I would love to get suggestions for other snacks or ideas that work well.As delivered, the boxes are a real pain to fill. I took one of the plastic screws out, and replaced it with a carabiner clip (see photo). This makes it super easy to remove the top for refilling. The clip shown in my photo is actually a bit too large, so I had to enlarge the hole a bit to make it fit. If your bird chews the plastic screws, you could replace both sides.

I use it for blue jays outside
I don’t think this is safe for indoor birds, who may get tangled in the hanging wire or cut themselves on the sharp edges… so instead I completely removed the wire, filled the box with peanuts, and put it flat on my deck for the blue jays. They love it and it keeps them entertained for quite a while as they try to fish the peanuts out. They knocked the box over a few times but it seemed to take the tumbles with no problem. I wouldn’t recommend setting it on a high surface — I don’t know that it could take a hard drop to the ground as they inevitably push it over trying to get the peanuts out.The mockingbirds didn’t show any interest, so maybe it’s just a jay thing. Also, the jays couldn’t figure out how get the peanuts out when I hung it from a tree, I’m guessing because they don’t have hooked beaks. It hung in the tree for a week with almost zero activity. Once I took it down, completely removed the wire, and placed it flat on the ground, it suddenly became a fun little puzzle for them.(Assuming there’s no cats in the yard! Please don’t do this if you have cats prowling the grounds. Yikes.)

Buy it!
It came assembled, and it’s a really sturdy unit! The cable it hangs by is one of the sturdiest of all the toys I’ve bought to date. It’s got good length and the unit itself seems like it will be a lot of fun for my rats to use, and able to deal with abuse. Great product!
