Chess King 3 Max with Houdini 3 Playing and Analysis Software (published 2013)

Really like it. I was just looking for a program to play chess with that would let me improve without annoying me every time I play. I tried a number of Fritz programs and I much prefer Chess King. I wish I had ordered Chess King 4 and paid the extra 10 bucks. Having said that I am very satisfied. I recommend for the average player (like me just trying to knock twenty years of rust of my game.)

The playing part is fine but the analysis never did work. I wrote an email and they said to reinstall with virus protecter turned off. It still didn't work. I wrote a second email but never heard back. I think it has potential . I enjoy playing the computer anyway.The engine 'Houdini seems to be disconnected from the rest of the program., but I'm not experienced in this area.

The chess machine is much stronger than that of typical toy desktop chess programs. It saves lines of play in standard European chess notation. Installation is easy, and I like that it's on a disk in case you have to do computer recovery at some time when your Internet access is down. The user interface has difficult points, however. For example, to leave a middle-game position and restart from it later requires setting it up all over again--even though "Houdini" has saved the position and the moves leading up to it! As has become usual with software these days, the user is at sea figuring out how it works with little documentation.I no longer play in clubs and never reached expert level when I did, so you'll want to see reviews from currently rated players. There is a new edition already out, but this one seems a good value for its $50 price.

This Chess Program is for people who want to improve their Chess game, beginners OR more advanced players. I am not a beginner or advanced. I am an average everyday ordinary guy who enjoys playing Chess in his spare time.I own CM 10, Shredder Classic, and Fritz. Chess King is fast becoming my favorite Chess program. I like the Quests, they are interesting and helpful learning. Also the Huge Database of games is extremely easy to use and it is quite interesting to see historic games from the past. The program seems to dumb down to my level of playing well. Other chess programs I have used seem to make stupid blunders when they play at my level. Chesskings Houdini engine seems to play at lower levels well without making obvious on purpose mistakes. Lots of fun to play against ChessKing, even for beginners.Now for what I do not like. The green playing board and only one chess set. No manual or Help system in the program. There are tutorials on the ChessKing website which are helpful. If you need email support you will find that Diego Garces will answer you. Diego is the husband of GM Alexandra Kosteniuk. They started the ChessKing business. Diego is VERY eager to help you and wants you to be 100 percent happy with your purchase. He has told me that an update to Chessking will allow you to choose the colors of the the whole program and a Chessking program tutorial is in the works.An easy 4 stars, I deducted 1 star for no choice of playing boards or chess sets and no manual or help file with the program.

My son likes chess very much. He plays this game almost everyday. He is seven and his skills improve a lot through this game. I recommend to anyone interested in chess..

Great chess game for beginners and experienced players.

It is going to take a bit of time to fully familiarize myself with this program enough to render a full and final evaluation. Some parts of it that I have used appear to be good learning tools. I did not consider myself a beginner in either chess or software, but it requires some getting used to just to get started. Do not think it is for beginners without some better tutoring aids or further supervision from someone who knows the game. However, it has the capability to grow with someone who really wants to get into chess deeper.

It was agony trying to get this to function due to poor and ambiguous instructions. no doubt written by Geeks for Geeks. I struggled manfully but in the end my frustration and irritation proved too much to bear and I thought Why Bother.

oui pour 3000 élo , il est vraiment pas cher le hic c'est la présentation !meme fin des années 80 quand fritz est sortie il avait plusieurs échiquiers avec differentes couleurs et plusieurs format d écran , en ce moment ce fritz de l époque doit etre a 5 euro, meme chessmaster et a 10 euro avec3d et des dizaines d echiquiers donc pour 2015 il on bien deconné il ferait mieux de rectifier le tir de plus pour quelques rajustement il en vendrait bien plus , quand je vois que pour des mises a jour , il faut payer ! et pas que 1 euro a part ca il est tres amusant jy joue beaucoup les parametres de force sont tres bien fait en force elo sans doute le mieux que j ai vue ideal pour un debutant ou joueur occasionnel , au final malgré mais critiques pour 30 euro je vous le recommande ; 3000 elo quand meme minima

Si le logiciel est bien assez fort et rapide, je déplore qu'il n'y ait pas beaucoup plus de possibilités que de jouer contre l'ordi. J'aurai bien aimé résoudre des positions ou prendre une partie en cours, mais pour le prix faut pas rêver non plus, quoique génius pro sur android offre beaucoup plus de possibilités pour même pas 5€, mais moins balaise.

pas de notice detaillant les differentes fonctions attendues et comment y acceder.En particulier, comment jouer librement contre le programme en en reglant simplement la force en ELO.comment utiliser le tutoriel seule fonction directement accessible (il s'ouvre dessus obligatoirement) sans se trouver en situation de total debutant, avec un elo ridicule imposé.
