Perfect for charging Tesla
Great, Durable & High Quality for charging a Tesla! Wiring was simple and good value for the quality!

For EV charging you need these.
A superior receptacle with quality contacts. Stopped the Tesla charger warning that charging was reduced to overheating supply. The cheaper dryer outlets installed by Tesla vendor showed signs of overheating with melted plastic at one terminal. These contacts are much stronger and the terminals use an allen screw to secure wires and maintain torque. Expensive but worth it.

Rock Solid
This 14-50R receptacle is as well built as all of the YouTubers who produce electrical and solar how-To videos say. I was able to mount the standard dual gang square box housing it between a dual stud post (see picture) I found in my garage wall, so there is no flex when plugging in a cable. I ran 3/4-inch metal flex conduit to my panel and used 6 AWG THHN for the three conductors and 10 AWG for the ground.Currently using a Tesla mobile connector with this receptacle for a Tesla model Y limited to 32 amp charging on a 40-amp breaker. As expected, no issues at this level. The conductors in the conduit and the receptacle only get slightly warm during a four-hour top-off charging session. The Tesla cable that is part of their mobile connector does get quite warm during charging at 32 amps. This receptacle feels very smooth and solid as I plug and unplug the 14-50 adapter that comes with the Tesla mobile connector.I HAVE NOT DONE THIS, BUT I would expect to have no issues going to 40 amp charging on a 50-amp breaker as long as the Tesla cable didn't get too warm. AGAIN, I HAVE NOT DONE THIS YET, SO THIS IS ONLY AN EDUCATED GUESS.

A Must Have For EV Charging
Had a licensed electrician install a NEMA 14-50 outlet, wiring and circuit breaker in my garage for EV charging. Worked great for about six months and then I started getting outlet overheating warning in my vehicle which lowered my charging rate to 16A instead of 30A. I inspected the outlet and tightened the screws that secured the wires to the outlet and fixed my issue or so I thought. A few months later my charging warning returned so I decided to replace outlet with this one that many recommend. Once I received the outlet and removed the one I had, the size difference is unbelievable. Basically the electrician gave me a cheap outlet knowing that this was for charging an EV. I strongly recommend getting this outlet for EV charging. I waited a week before writing this review and I have no issues. I have a 2024 Tesla Model Y and I use the Mobile Charger with NEMA 14-50 plug.

Nema 14-50
Highly recommended compared to the other brands. You can feel the quality when you are working with it. My charger pulls 32 amps and after 3 hrs of charging the plug was not hot. I bought the Leviton and struggled with it because the quality is so so and it the threads broke.

The only proper EV outlet
The only proper choice if you're looking to charge an EV. Don't chance it with the cheaper sockets and no-names. You want super heavy duty and a proper UL listed part. This or the new HD Leviton, but that one has yet to be out long enough to prove itself, IMO. This, while pricey, is the correct choice.
