It's exactly as advertised, a good quality exfoliating brush with bristles that aren't too tough.
When I was reading reviews for this brush I kept hearing that they were stiff, uncomfortable, and painful. However, I went ahead and gave it a shot because I had a feeling some people might just not be used true exfoliation and I'm glad I did. The first thing I did when I got the brush was to run my hand over the bristles, and to my surprise they're actually pretty soft. They are flexible and responded to my hand without much effort. They weren't painful to rub over my palms either and were actually rather ticklish. Using it in the shower, the bristles hold up well. They do not get softer in the shower and are indeed rather firm, but perform their job of exfoliating perfectly. I have two complaints. First, the brush head bends toward you due to the shape of the handle, which makes it a little bit awkward when trying to reach every part of your back. The second is that the bristle bunches are spread out so when you try to put body wash on it, it will seep deep into the grooves and not completely lather up. Overall though, this is a great brush and I like the quality of the bristles.

Good brush, decent quality and works well
This brush is of decent quality and works well. It has a pretty good reach and the brush bristles are stiff enough to clean well and remove dead skin, but not so stiff as to hurt you. It has a cord on the end of the handle so it can be hung easily. Mine had a clear plastic handle. If it were a bit cheaper, I'd give 5 stars, but a good solid 4 stars and a fair value shipped free via Prime. It makes a great back scratcher, too. 2016-11-20 Update: Raised my review rating to 5 stars after further consideration and reading a fair and valid comment on my review. While 4 stars (I like it) is a good rating, I agree that for the price 5 stars is reasonable. My brush has held up well (I only use it occasionally, but still, it's well made and will last you a long time).

A Good Brush
I like almost everything about this brush. My only complaint is the hand grip. It's a little small for a mans hand. The handle is long enough; and for my use the bristles are just right. They're in that Goldie Lock zone; not to soft, and not to stiff. The head is only about two to three inches in diameter; but is very usable. The handle is only about two inches wide and about three eights of an inch thick which is what led to my calling it too small. My fingers go to far around to get a tight grip. It reminds me of a paint stirrer; it's a little thicker but about the width. I know this won't be much help to women reading this review; but the men who are most likely to be affected by this, will know what I'm getting at. It's a good product at a very reasonable price; only the most delicate skin would have a problem with the bristles. And I have to address the only one star rating. In that rating the person complain of rust. I'm not sure that person was reviewing the right product; there is nothing that could possibly rust. It's all plastic. Rust will almost certainly not be a problem.

Perfect
I've had this brush for over a year now, and it has been perfect for cleaning and ex-foliating my back and shoulders. Cotton shirts suck moisture out of the pores, tending to leave them clogged with solids, followed by pimples, etc. I like the stiffness, though it seemed a bit a bit harsh at first. I don't know if I have adapted to the brush or if it has gotten slightly softer with use. My advice for those who find it too stiff is to press it against very fine sandpaper in such a way that the brush ends are nearly parallel to the surface and move it around a bit to thin and soften the tips. Don't overdo it, though. Update September 2024: After seven years, it was still perfect until I dropped it on a hard floor and broke off part of the head. I ordered an identical one, and the new one seemed much too harsh. Most likely the old one had gotten softer as is wore down, and my skin has gotten thinner since I turned 80. No problem, I took my own advice. Rubbed the new one on a fresh piece of black 320 grit sandpaper (black so that you can observe the white powder indicating plastic removal) while pressing hard enough to bend the bristle ends almost 90 degrees and to remove material from the sides of the bristles. Side to side and forward and back. By the second treatment, after checking in the shower, it is perfect again.

Are we all talking about the same brush???
After reading lots of the reviews posted for this brush, I'm convinced that not everyone is receiving the same brush. But more than that, I ordered 2 of these brushes several years ago and loved them--the bristles were firm but not too scratchy, the handle was fairly thick and easily grippable, and it was well-made and quite sturdy overall. When I went to order a replacement, I looked up my list of previous orders, so I knew I was ordering the same identical brush this time. However, the brush I actually received is quite different from what I had previously: the bristles are much softer, and the handle is thinner and feels flimsier. I loved the brushes I bought earlier, while this one is somewhere between "okay" and "meh." If you like a softer-bristled brush and you don't like to really scrub--and you happen to get the same version that I got this time around--you'll probably love this one. But if you want a brush that's fairly sturdy with firm bristles, this is not the one. [And if you find the reviews are so contradictory that you're more confused than ever....you might be better off trying a different item altogether! That's what I'm going to do next time.]

Very Nice!
I had read a few of the reviews stating that this was too small of a head, too short of a handle, and too flimsy of a design. The one I received is not any of these. The head is a good 3" circle, with more than 2.5" of bristles. The length is about 15" from the tip to tip. And mine is a one-piece design of heavy plastic that feels kinda like Lucite. Nothing flimsy or teensy about the one I received. I can reach over my shoulder and almost completely to my waist when scrubbing my back. I can reach up from my waist to my shoulder. I can scrub my legs with very little contortionism, which is MY main concern, as I recently had back surgery and scrubbing my legs has become quite the chore. I am pleased. And as an Add-On Item and free Prime Shipping - the $5 or so that I spent is well worth the price! I am very happy with mine.

Hard Bristles / Poor Grip
This is just an average long reach brush you could probably find a comparable one at the dollar store. I really like the curve of the brush as I use it to scrub my back. The curve helps the brush to hit the right areas. The bristles are very hard and it really exfoliates and scrubs with a rough feeling. This is not a gentle brush. The handle is another poor design. The handle does not allow you to get a good grip on the brush when your hands are wet or soapy. I always have to make sure I have no soap on my hands when using the brush because the plastic handle will slip out of my hands when brushing. I use this brush daily so I can say even though its a plastic brush it is very durable. I have dropped it many times and its still holding up well. The bristles do distort after some use but it does not affect the use of the brush. Lastly, the bumps on the back of the brush head are useless. Overall it's a durable yet uncomfortable brush.
