It needs batteries. The card is NOT a digital tech card. It’s plain plastic … the card does NOT interact with the toy itself. Card is only a visual play card

Do we actually complete any missions after driving?

The mission of using your imagination is completed. Honestly, for the price it looks very nice quality. I do wish there was a bit more to the missions, it’s kind of boring for my 3 year olds although they like pretending they’re driving.
